About Max
Hi, I'm Max! I'm a bold, playful boy with a big personality and lots of love to give the right person.
I know exactly what I like and don't like - so I'm looking for a home that really understands me.
I'd like to be the only cat in the house. I tried living with another cat, but it made me unsettled.
Playtime is my absolute favourite thing! Toys, games, chasing, enrichment - love it all. I play rough and sometimes get carried away, so I need someone who's happy to read my body language and give me breaks when I need them.
Small kids are some of my favourite playmates, I adore the fun and energy they bring.
I'm not the bravest when it comes to strangers, so I'll usually keep to myself until the house is quiet again. But with my people, I'm affectionate, cheeky, and full of character.
I've got some funny quirks too - I'll always choose running water over a bowl (tap water tastes so much better, don't you think?), I've got a taste for crunchy dry food, and I can spend hours birdwatching from a safe spot indoors.
I'll thrive in a patient, understanding home with someone who respects my boundaries and gives me time to trust. In return, you'll have an entertaining, loyal, and totally unique companion.
If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind cat who will keep life interesting, I might just be your guy.
To book a meet and greet please phone 5441-2209 or email barcreception@bendigo.vic.gov.au .
Due to the high volume of emails received, enquiries with a request for a specific appointment with phone details included will receive a response as priority over generic applications which state they are interested in meeting an animal.

Adoption details
BARC adoption officers will work with you to help you find a dog or cat that matches your needs, they will discuss things like yard fencing, exercise requirements, other pets and family members, lifestyle factors, and breed experience. To help make this as quick and easy as possible, we ask you complete and adoption questionnaire (located on our website, or you can complete on when you visit). This helps ensure that we are introducing you to the most suitable animals we have available.
We encourage all members of the household to attend a meet and greet with a pet prior to adopting an animal. If the animal being adopted is a dog, we will also require existing dogs in the household to attend the shelter as part of the meet and greet.
Holds can not be placed on animals over the phone, and can only be applied at the discretion of management.
