Meet Sandy,
Sandy is a beautiful older girl with a heart full to share with a special someone. With her gentle nature and sweet personality, she’s looking for someone who will appreciate her for the wonderful dog she is.
Sandy is best suited to experienced owners, especially those familiar with Rottweilers, but her adaptable nature means she can settle happily into most households. She would love to join an active family or person who enjoys walks, though her exercise demands are not high and she likes nice, leisurely stroll these days.
This lovely girl is friendly, social, and playful, with a soft spot for people who show her kindness. She’s affectionate, engaging, and has the kind of presence that makes every day brighter. If you’re ready to welcome a loyal, gentle soul into your life, Sandy is waiting to meet you.
Ideal Home: Sandy is fine to live in either a standalone home or farm/acerage with a medium-large yard and high, secure fencing.
Family: Sandy is open to meet kids of any age but they should be dog savvy. Reason for this is because Sandy is a large girl, who likes to lean on you and at close to 40kgs this may be too much for smaller kids. Although she usually doesn't jump up on you, she may on occasion, especially during play time.
Sandy is fine to live with people who work full-time hours as she shows no signs of separation anxiety. She is able to spend time in the yard on her own, but would also love to be inside with her new family too.
Furry Friends: Sandy came in with another dog and displayed social behaviour during her dog assessment. She was excited to meet the other dog and initiated play but lost interest as the assessment went on but was still able to be around the other dog without any issues. We consider Sandy to be dog selective, as she appreciates calmer, less playful dogs over energetic dogs.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Sandy would go living with/meeting cats and pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Sandy would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience.
Sandy knows her name, and she knows commands such as: sit, drop and shake.
Sandy is food motivated too - so, having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea as he is very responsive to them. She is gentle when taking treats from you.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Sandy has mid-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 20-60mins a day to keep her happy and healthy. Sandy doesn't show much interest in playing with toys, but she likes going for walks, socialising with people and enjoys personal play with her handlers and of course, cuddles and pats and belly rubs!
Sandy walks well on lead with minimal pulling. She is fine to be walked on a harness or collar/lead.
Staff Comments: Sandy is a sweet older girl who still loves life’s simple pleasures. She’s friendly, playful, and affectionate – the perfect match for experienced owners ready to give her the loving home she deserves. She also loves belly rubs!

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
The adoption fee for dogs covers C5 vaccination, health check, heartworm testing, desexing, micro-chipping, and registration.
