About Aries
Aries and the Beanstalk
(A fairytale for those with hearts big enough to match giant paws)
Once upon a time, at the top of a towering beanstalk, lived a gentle giant named Aries - a 4-year-old Bull Arab with a heart as vast as the clouds he lounges in.
Now, unlike the giants in the old stories who grumble and stomp, Aries is a different kind of tale. At 56 kgs, he's certainly got the size - enough to fill your couch and your heart - but this boy doesn't chase intruders or roar from mountaintops. No, Aries is a soft-footed, slow-blinking, deep-thinking soul who believes in taking life one thoughtful step at a time.
He walks like a breeze through the meadow - calm, steady, and with a leash as loose as the feathers on a goose. Well-socialised and easy-going, he's met many villagers (and dogs) on his travels and takes it all in his giant stride.
In fact, Aries has previously lived in a home with younger children and could do so again, provided they are dog-savvy and confident around dogs of his majestic scale. He's not one to knock over milk pails and tables - he's all about gentle cuddles and steady company.
But even giants get lonely.
Though he has ruled his castle alone, Aries dreams of companionship - especially of the canine kind. He's dog social and would relish the chance to share his world with another sociable, steady-natured dog to run beside, rest beside, and maybe even plot a few beanstalk adventures with.
This mighty lad is no foolhardy ogre. Every decision - whether it's which lap to curl up in or which sunny patch to nap in - is made with careful, noble thought. He's a lover, not a fighter; a snuggler, not a stormer.
So Aries looks down from his cloud with a gentle gaze, dreaming not of castles or gold, but of a warm hearth, a soft bed, a doggy mate to share his days, and a human with a heart as big as his paws.
Could you be the brave soul to climb the beanstalk and meet the giant who only wants a family to love?

Adoption details
BARC adoption officers will work with you to help you find a dog or cat that matches your needs, they will discuss things like yard fencing, exercise requirements, other pets and family members, lifestyle factors, and breed experience. This helps ensure that we are introducing you to the most suitable animals we have available.
We encourage all members of the household to attend a meet and greet with a pet prior to adopting an animal. If the animal being adopted is a dog, we will also require existing dogs in the household to attend the shelter as part of the meet and greet.
