Looking for love squared? Stevie and Goose are two delightfully bonded
pocket pups looking for their new forever due to changes outside their
person's control. Snuggly and friendly with each other and with everyone
they meet, these two are the full package. They are in great health,
although Stevie would benefit from slimming down in the interests of her
wellbeing and everyone else's sleep (she doesn't believe she snores, but
have we got news for her!). They travel well in the car and enjoy being
out and about, when they typically ignore other dogs. They have been
slowly introduced to the resident cats in care, with no dramas thus far.
Both dogs are housetrained, although Goose may try a sneaky mark in a
new home, so may need to be reminded of his manners upon arrival.
Goose and Stevie defy several Chihuahua stereotypes. While they are
loving and attached to their person, they are quite relaxed with a bit
of household hubbub and enjoy sharing their love around and having fun
with whomever is willing to play and pat them. They are not yappy dogs,
only likely to bark when they hear someone approach the house, but
immediately friendly when the door is opened. This dynamic duo is
comfortable spending some time alone together when left indoors with
outdoor access (our carer's pet cam finds they spend this time asleep,
with an occasional eye opened if they hear a noise). They are both good
being picked up, although Goose was well-named as he can be a tad
dramatic as his paws first leave the ground. They have been used to
sleeping in their person's bed but settle well in another room as long
as they have each other. If you are looking to improve your upper body
fitness, Stevie and Goose will provide you with ready-made arm exercises
as they expect regular pats for as long as you are up to it, both at
once 😊
Stevie and Goose will do well in a variety of homes, from a single
person through to a family with children who can be gentle with them
(they're only little, after all). They would love a secure yard to
explore but will be okay with a smaller space provided they have regular
opportunities to sniff the smells and places to go for toileting. Goose
and Stevie could cope with people who need to be out for work or play,
provided they have lots of quality time with you when you are home. This
delightful pair have had their world upended but they are absolutely
ready for their next chapter. Could it be with you?

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped,
wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals,
surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm
testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If
a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.
If you are still interested, please download an application form from our website:

The application form must be emailed to us:

Please note that we do not take/make telephone calls prior to receiving an application.
Commonly asked questions and their answers are provided when you email us. Unfortunately we usually will not have time to reply to enquiries in more detail and will give priority to completed applications over enquiries. Priority will also be given to typed applications which are easier for us to read and to copy relevant parts.
We look forward to receiving your application.
