Meet Zena,
Zena is a bright and bubbly girl who’s ready to bring her sparkle into a new home! She’s wonderfully adaptable, making her a great choice for first-time dog owners and families alike. Zena would thrive in an active household where she can be part of the fun, whether that’s weekend adventures, playtime in the yard, or simply joining in on daily life.
Independent yet affectionate, Zena has the perfect balance of confidence and warmth. She’s playful, outgoing, and social, always eager to meet new friends (both human and furry). With her smart mind and engaging personality, she’s not just a quick learner but also a dog who makes every day feel exciting. Zena is the kind of pup who will happily fill your home with laughter, love, and plenty of tail wags.
Ideal Home: Zena is suitable to live in either a townhouse, standalone home or on a farm/acerage, with a medium to large yard, and high secure fencing.
Family: Zena is open to meet kids from 5 years and up who are dog savvy as she may accidently knock smaller kids over during play time- especially if she gets the zoomies!
Zena is fine to live with people who work full-time hours as she shows no signs of separation anxiety. She is independent and able to spend time in the yard on her own, but would also love to be inside with her new family too.
Furry Friends: Zena is dog selective. During her dog assessment she was responsive to her handler and gave minimal reaction to the other dog, even when the other dog is next to her. She prefers dogs that are calm, like she is. She would need a respectful dog, like Jonah, whose happy to check in but able to do their own thing too. She goes on walks with Jonah and she appreciates his calm, independant nature. So a dog similar this this would be a good match for her.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Zena would go living with/meeting cats and pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Zena would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience.
Zena may occasionally jump on you - usually to say hello or when she thinks you can't see her - a pretty girl like Zena deserves to be seen, after all!
Zena knows her name. She also knows commands such as: sit and is coming a long way with her loose lead walking skills.
Zena is food motivated too - and having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea as he is very responsive to them. She is gentle when taking treats from you, too.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Zena has mid-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 20-60mins a day to keep her happy and content. Zena likes to play with soft toys, she also likes going for walks, socialising with other dogs and people, and enjoys personal play with her handlers and of course, she loves cuddles and pats!
Zena walks well on lead with minimal pulling. She is also learning loose lead walking. She is best walked on a harness or martingale.
Staff Comments: Zena is a smart, playful, and affectionate dog who’s adaptable and well-suited for first-time owners. Friendly, confident, and social, she’d thrive in an active household where she can join in on the fun and bring plenty of tail wags along the way.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
The adoption fee for dogs covers C5 vaccination, health check, heartworm testing, desexing, micro-chipping, and registration.
