About Chapo
Re-Introducing Chapo!
Chapo is a Roman Nose Bull Terrier x Bull Arab born 5th April 2025. His dad is a Bull Terrier (approx 11kg) & his mum is a Bull Arab x (approx 18kg).
Chapo & his siblings have been surrendered to the facility for rehoming as it was too much for their owners to physically & financially care for them. Since then, all of Chapo's siblings have been lucky enough to find their forever families, just leaving our sweet boy by himself.
Chapo has been in foster care with Pete since 20th September & he's sent through an update on what he's like at home;
"Since coming into foster care, Chapo has become much more confident and playful. He used to have his tail permanently tucked under his legs and wouldn't approach anyone. He's still a little shy, but will now wag his tail and go up to people for pats and cuddles, especially to people he knows. Once he gets to know you, he becomes super friendly and cuddly, his favourite spot is on the couch with you. At the dog park, he's becoming more confident to run and play with other dogs, and has a great time when another dog can match his puppy energy.
He loves a good chew toy and he likes to chase tennis balls (but also likes to tear them apart!).
His little personality is starting to come out, and he's become a bit cheeky like all puppies (he's started to steal shoes and socks and run away with them). He also likes to gently chew your hands any chance he gets.
He's toilet trained, he has access to inside and the backyard through a dog door and takes himself outside to toilet on the grass.
He doesn't show signs of separation anxiety when left alone, although he has been clinging very close to me and has been a little stressed since his sister was adopted. I think he would love to have another dog to play with."
When Chapo has come back to the facility for photoshoots & catch ups, he's always so excited to see staff & volunteers. He stands on his back legs & wraps his arms around you for a cuddle. Although he is still young, he's already quite a calm little gentleman.
Chapo has been tested & played with multiple dogs (both male & female, adult & puppy, large & small) and he's been fantastic with all of them. If they're too boisterous with him, Chapo becomes quite submissive & rolls onto his back. He's quite gentle with smaller dogs and loves playing chase with other friendly dogs. We believe Chapo would be best suited to a home with another dog, however he could also settle into life as a spoilt only "child". If you have a friendly dog at home, we would need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Chapo appears to be unfazed by smaller animals. We believe he could be suitable to live with cats & pocket pets, if given a slow & controlled introduction to them.
Being young he is still growing into his personality, but this little guy is a very loving pup who can't wait to find his forever home.
Chapo's adoption fee is $600 and includes his desexing, lifetime registration & current vaccination. Chapo is also regularly treated for flea and worms.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
