About Raven
Hi! I’m Raven and I’m looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR RAVEN
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/pSnokEQLQngE6gMt9
NOTE: You are unable to meet Raven until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Raven in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
• BREED KNOWLEDGE IS PREFERRED
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family and not left outside 24/7 with no interaction.
A submissive dog is the best housemate for me. But, I love people, so I'm just as happy being an only dog getting all your love and attention for myself
• I like other dogs but I don’t like dogs that come rushing at me, so I need a doggy playmate who will match my energy levels and playfulness.
• I appeared avoidant of cats when meeting them at the shelter however once my confidence around them grows I might be more inquisitive. If going to a home with a cat they must be dog savvy, and we must be introduced slowly.
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• Lots of love and attention
• No young children as I can be a bit shy in new situations and with new people and little ones may accidently scare me. Older children who will be involved with my training should be ok
• I can be shy at first, so I need a family who’ll allow me to grow in confidence in my own time
• Being an active breed, I have a lot of energy so an active family is a must! A family that will love and care for me during my twilight years
• SOCIALISATION is as important as training. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will ensure I grow into a social and well-adjusted dog.
• TRAINING TRAINING TRAINING. It's ESSENTIAL I receive training in all aspects of my life so I can be the best dog I can be when I'm older.
My best features:
• Wiggle butt
• Highly food motivated
• Gentle & placid
• I can sit, drop & wait
• I love attention, hugs, kisses & head scratches
Where I need to improve / Training required:
• I will require full basic training as I've had a small amount training experience
• I am shy at first with new people and in new environments so will require a family who will take their time allowing me to settle in and continue with my socialization
• I love my food so using it as a positive reward should make my training easier.
• I've only just learnt to walk on the lead since being at the shelter so I'm still a bit erratic but lots of walks will help me learn how to be great on the lead.
• I can sometimes initially be shy and try to avoid things going over my head (lead etc). It doesn't take long for me warm up and my excitable & full of life nature to come out.
• I am social with other friendly dogs however I will react if they are too full on or reactive to me, further socialization is recommended.
