About Scout
Hello! My name is Scout. I’m a 1 year old Kelpie mix boy with a big heart and even bigger energy! I’m an active pup who absolutely loves to run and explore - especially around my foster carer's farm, where I can stretch my legs and play for hours.
The world can still feel a little scary sometimes, but I’m building confidence every single day. I can be shy and take a little while to warm up to new people, but once I feel safe and loved, I become the most loyal and affectionate companion you could ask for.
I’m a very sweet and soft boy. Gentle, submissive, and sensitive by nature. I thrive in calm, understanding environments and take comfort in being around other dogs. In fact, my foster brothers are my favourite, and my absolute favourite thing to do is play with them!
I even love kids and cats!
**Scout will need a rural home with another dog to play with**

Scout would thrive in a home with plenty of space to run and explore, ideally a rural or semi-rural property. He absolutely loves other dogs, so having a confident canine companion or two would really help him continue to grow and feel secure. His perfect person will have experience with working breeds and understand the importance of providing both structure and stimulation, whilst building trust and giving lots and lots of love.
Scout is a very shy and timid boy who takes his time to feel safe. His favourite toy is his red Kong, and his absolute favourite activities are running in the paddock and swimming in the dam.
Scout is still very new to training, so he’ll
need a patient and committed person who can start from the basics. Because he was so withdrawn when he first came into care, we’ve been focusing mainly on building his confidence. He does know a basic sit, has a good recall, and walks well on a lead. But he’ll need consistent guidance, structure, and plenty of positive reinforcement to help him learn the ropes.
As a young working breed, Scout will thrive with clear boundaries and strong, calm leadership to help channel his energy in the right direction. Scout is kennel trained and is working on house training.
He’s a smart boy and eager to learn once he trusts you!
Medical notes
At Scout's vetting consultation, Scout was diagnosed with a grade 4/6 systolic heart murmur. This will need continual monitoring for Scout's future health, however this heart murmur is not currently affecting his love of exercise and exploring.
