About Poppy
Poppy is a female Domestic Short Hair cat available for adoption in North Wollongong (Illawarra, NSW).
Poppy is a bright, playful cat with a curious mind and a warm, affectionate nature. She enjoys active play, cosy naps and being part of daily life, bringing a cheerful energy into the home without overwhelming the household.
She thrives in homes where there is a good balance of play, companionship and quiet downtime.
A little about Poppy:
🐾 Playful, curious and full of energy
🐾 Affectionate with her trusted people
🐾 Would enjoy a young feline playmate
🐾 Suitable for active households with older children
🐾 Comfortable with indoor or apartment living
Poppy loves starting her day with a burst of activity. After breakfast, she often launches into zoomies, climbing her cat tower like she’s on an important mission or chasing whichever toy has captured her attention that day.
Once the excitement settles, she’s equally happy stretching out in the sun on the balcony or watching the world from her favourite window.
With her people, Poppy is affectionate and expressive. She enjoys hopping into a welcoming lap when she’s ready for cuddles and will happily headbutt you until the scratches are just right.
She also has a sweet, chatty little voice and isn’t shy about using it — sometimes to request playtime, and sometimes to begin gentle negotiations around dinner.
Poppy can be a little shy with unfamiliar people at first, simply because she hasn’t had much exposure. With a little patience and perhaps a treat or two, her curiosity quickly takes over, and she relaxes into her friendly, affectionate self.
She would flourish in a home where she can share her playful energy. A young, confident cat companion would suit her well, and she may also adapt to a cat-friendly dog.
Poppy would do well in an active household, including families with children aged around 6–12 who enjoy interactive play with pets.
She is comfortable living indoors, including apartment environments, and entertains herself well when her guardians are busy.
Her daily rhythm is delightfully balanced.
Mornings usually begin with energetic play, followed by a long midday nap.
Later in the afternoon, she’s ready for another play session after her meal, before settling into a relaxed evening routine.
Sometimes, on colder nights, she may sneak under the covers for a quick cuddle before heading off to her own bed.
Life with Poppy often feels lively and affectionate.
Mornings might begin with playful zoomies and tower climbing.
Afternoons include sunny naps or birdwatching from the window.
Evenings often end with Poppy curled nearby after a day filled with play and companionship.
For someone looking for a playful, intelligent cat who also loves cuddles, Poppy could become a joyful and affectionate companion.

Adoption details
When enquiring about a pet listed with Home2Home, your enquiry goes directly to the pet’s guardian—the person who knows them best!
From here, the guardian will be in touch to learn more about you and chat with you about their pet. It’s a great opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the pet, including its likes and dislikes, needs, and how it may fit into your lifestyle and family.
If your home and lifestyle match the pet's needs, the next step will be arranging a meet-and-greet to make sure everyone is happy to proceed with a formal adoption.
Following the adoption, change of ownership paperwork will be completed, and proof of vaccination, microchipping, and desexing (if applicable, as indicated on the listing) will be provided.
All pets adopted through Home2Home will require an adoption contract to be signed and an adoption fee to be paid. The pet’s guardian will complete the adoption contract with you and provide a link to PetRescue’s secure payment portal for completing the adoption fee payment.
Home2Home currently operates a ‘pay what you choose’ system for cat adoption fees. This means that adopters will be able to choose an adoption fee amount that is suitable for them. All adoption fees are used to support PetRescue's life-saving programs, including Home2Home.
