About Nelly
Meet Nelly – A Gentle Soul Seeking a Peaceful Home
Nelly is a sweet and intelligent girl who’s slowly but surely finding her paws in the world. Life hasn’t always been simple for her, so she’s still learning to feel confident and secure in new environments. But with patience, understanding, and a calm routine, Nelly continues to blossom in her own quiet way.
While the hustle and bustle of inner-city life can feel overwhelming to her, Nelly would thrive in a more peaceful setting... ideally suburban or rural where the pace is slower, and the world feels a little less noisy. She’s happiest when things are calm and predictable, with space to explore at her own pace.
Nelly is still a work in progress and may never be the most outgoing or confident dog on the block, but she doesn’t need to be. All she really wants is a safe, loving home where she can relax, enjoy her walks, and curl up next to her people. Once she trusts you, she’s incredibly affectionate... full of cuddles, gentle playfulness, and silly moments that show just how special she is.
Nelly’s Ideal Home:
- A quiet, calm household with a secure yard
- Preferably in a suburban or rural area
- Adults only, or a family with dog-savvy teens (13+)
- Someone patient, who will continue supporting her confidence-building
- Okay being left alone during the day, provided she has regular potty breaks
- Would enjoy the companionship of another calm, respectful dog, but also happy solo
Nelly’s Routine & Energy:
- Enjoys long walks or a couple of short strolls daily
- Occasionally up for a jog
- Loves puzzle toys and enrichment games
- Spends most of her time relaxing indoors
Other Pets:
- Comfortable with calm, gentle dogs
- Hasn’t been tested with cats, but shows no prey drive
Nelly may not be the kind of dog who bounds up to strangers or thrives in a busy lifestyle but in the right home, with the right people, she’ll give her whole heart. All she’s looking for is a quiet life filled with love, patience, and the space to be herself.

Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two-week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
