Meet Bee,
Bee is adaptable and easy going, making her a great match for first-time owners or experienced dog people alike. She’s happiest when she’s out and about, exploring the world on walks, sniffing new scents, and saying hello to everyone she meets. Bee would thrive in an active household where adventure is part of the routine but her exercise needs are not demanding. She's just as content being inside taking a nap as she is on a walk.
Gentle by nature, Bee can be a little sensitive in new places, but it doesn’t take her long to relax and show her playful, friendly side. She’s a happy girl who adores affection, loves making new friends, and has the cutest silly streak. Sometimes she’s a bit clumsy – whether it’s forgetting where her feet are or toppling over from excitement – but that’s all part of her quirky charm!
Bee is social, affectionate, and ready to share her big heart (and her goofy tumbles) with her new family. She’s the kind of dog who will make you laugh every single day – and love you just as much in return.
Ideal Home: Bee is fine to live in either a standalone home or on a farm/acerage, with a medium to large yard and high, secure fencing.
Family: Bee is open to meet kids of any age - just as long as they're dog savvy. Reason for this is simply because Bee, although rare, can have moments of timidity. We just want kids to be understanding of this.
Bee is fine to live with people who work full-time hours as she shows no signs of separation anxiety. She is able to spend time in the yard on her own, but would also love to be inside with her new family too.
Furry Friends: Bee is dog social and open to meet other dogs. During her dog assessment she had a loose body and gave the other dog loads of play bows to initiate play. She likes to use her paws and mouth during play, but is quite gentle when doing so, and she's also quite trainable as you can get her attention easily despite distractions.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are not sure how Bee would go living with or meeting cats and pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Bee would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. Group classes should also be considered so that Bee can continue to add more skills to the skills she already has when it comes to meeting and making friends with other dogs.
Bee may jump on you - she loves to say hello and give you a cuddle. However, she is learning not to jump up at all.
With additional training and time to settle into a new routine Bee could be the type of dog that you could take to a dog friendly café or social setting.
Bee is still learning her name, but she knows commands such as sit - although sometimes she pretends that she doesn't.
Bee is food motivated - so, having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea as she is very responsive to them. She also takes them gently from you, too.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Bee has mid-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 20-60mins a day to keep her happy and healthy. Bee likes to play with soft toys, she also likes going for walks, socialising with other dogs and enjoys personal play with her handlers and of course, she loves cuddles and being near you.
Bee walks well on lead with minimal pulling but she can get excited and may turn around and jump on you to show you how happy this is. She is fine to be walked on either a harness or collar.
Staff Comments: Bee is a very sweet, young girl and she has loads of potential! She is super affectionate and is quite gentle with other dogs and people that she meets. She's a little clumsy but she tries her best and will make you laugh in the process!

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
