About Betty
Betty has pet life totally worked out. She loves her routine and hanging out with her humans is her favourite thing. With her sleek black coat with a flash of white on her chest, you can’t help but fall in love looking into those soulful brown eyes. Betty is an affectionate snuggle bug always up a cuddle and entertain you with cheeky antics.
Betty loves her 30 minutes walks, usually before and after her humans go to work and special adventure walks on the weekends. She will usually settle for the rest of the day while her humans are working from home and a few hours home alone if they go into the office. They make sure she has had a good walk, something yummy to eat and a puzzle toy to keep her busy when they leave for work.
Napping is a special talent that Betty has been training hard at for some time. She is very versatile, an all-rounder, able to nap expertly on her bed, outside on the deck if the sun is out, on the couch or on you if you happen to be on her couch. In the house, in between naps, Betty is interested in what you are are up to and would like to be included. She will also like to entertain you with a couple of minutes of zoomies and play with her toys. Betty also takes great delight in stealing shoes and socks, usually in the hope you might take chase and make a little game of it. You will expect to go on a little treasure hunt in the morning to find that missing shoe but don’t worry, she doesn’t chew them.
Betty is learning to walk well on lead and is largely unfazed about inner city noises or traffic. She is interested in meeting other dogs on her walks but is still trying to figure out some of the funny creatures that dont look like her. She is very social and is pleased to stop for patch and scratches from the humans she meets on her walks.
Betty is happy as an only dog in her home but has been very welcoming and playful with visiting dogs.
Betty is a dog you can take most places, like a cafe or the pub, maybe visiting grandma too. She loves the car and the adventures it brings. She is nearly able to jump into the car by herself, just needing that last little boost to complete the job.
Betty is a very easy, versatile hound who will suit inner city or the burbs. She would be happy to be an only dog if she gets the human attentions she enjoys.
No cats or small dogs

Thinking about adopting?
We’d love to help you find your greyhound match!
To get started, we’ll ask for a bit of information about your home and lifestyle on our application form. This helps us make sure we match you with a dog that suits your household and sets both of you up for success.
Many greyhounds come from racing kennels where they’re used to having other dogs around. Some can struggle being left completely alone, which can lead to signs of separation anxiety like barking or chewing.
Because of this, we usually look to rehome greyhounds into homes where they’ll have company - either human or canine - and not be left alone for more than four hours on a regular basis. If that’s not your setup right now, don’t worry as we’re happy to chat about options such as dog walkers, doggy daycare, or taking your greyhound to work.
Our Adoption Checklist:
To be considered for adoption, we ask that you have:
A secure, fully fenced yard (minimum height around hip height)
A home where the dog is allowed to sleep inside at night
A routine that doesn’t leave the dog home alone regularly for long periods (more than 4 hours) without people or another dog for company
If you’re not sure whether you tick every box, please still apply! We’re happy to have a conversation and see if we have a greyhound who might be the right fit.
Please fill in as much detail as you can as there’s no word limit on any question.
