About Yap
✨ Personality
Yap is a quiet, tender-hearted 14-year-old gentleman who loves a brush, a scratch, and a slow stroll by your side. He’s softly affectionate and has a way of looking at you like you’ve been mates forever. Calm and steady, Yap brings a peaceful energy to every moment. He’s happiest when Yip is nearby, and their bond is truly something special.
🏡 Ideal Forever Home
Yap needs a calm, loving home where he and Yip can stay together. A secure yard, a comfy bed, and a human who appreciates quiet companionship would be ideal. He’s not demanding—just grateful for kindness and connection.
🛟 Rescue Story
Rescued from the pound in Cobar alongside Yip, Yap has endured significant trauma to his nose, likely from chronic injury and infection. Despite his past, he’s emerged as a gentle, affectionate soul who’s ready to trust again. We believe Yap and Yip had the same owner their whole lives, until he sadly had to go into care. Their sweet temperaments and quiet trust suggest they were always treated with love. The Sweet Pea team is smitten—and you will be too.
🩺 Medical History
Yap’s nose shows permanent scarring from past trauma and infections, but he’s now fully healed and in good health. He’s received thorough veterinary care and is otherwise only suffering the arthritic changes that come with age.
📌 More Info
Yap is adored by the whole team at Sweet Pea. He is a gentle and loving old boy who deserves to be in a home where HE is adored and all his needs are met, plus some. Yap walks beautifully on lead, doesn’t jump up, and enjoys quiet companionship. He will bring so much joy and love to any home. You can meet him and Yip at Paws 4 an Hour every Thursday from 10:30–11:30 am at Sweet Pea.
Medical notes
Yap's nose has previously experienced trauma, leaving it scarred. It is treated daily with Bepanthan. He also has some arthritic changes in his spine and legs, for which he is receiving a course of Synovan injections and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory tablets.
