About Spyro
On a stormy night in the middle of winter, Spyro the donek pigeon found himself lost and sick, seeking refuge from the rain and wind on a balcony. Here, Freckle’s was called in to save the day and Spyro fell into safe hands!
Spyro was quite “under the weather” on intake, having a respiratory infection, and full of parasites. But there was one more surprise- he had a club foot! This is a condition that is present from birth- in pigeons often a result of a lack of nutrition in the parent who laid the egg. It can be splinted, but only when the bird is a baby, so Spyro will have a funky leg for the rest of his life. For this reason, he would like a home that can give him nice soft places to lay on indoors.
We are not too sure on Spyro’s previous life, but we assume he was a hobby loft bird who got blown off path, so Spyro has been around people before but would like his new owner to be patient with him as he gets used to his new life, he doesn’t mind eating from your hand or sitting with you to watch tv though!
Medical notes
Club foot - this has resulted on an uneven amount of pressure on the toes which has lead to bumble foot (pressure sores). Minor management involves a special cage with soft bedding, and foot care which involves routine saline soaks and support of the foot. Any questions about this can be emailed to adoptions@frecklesfellowship.org
