About Minka
Meet Minka â Your Water-Loving, Shoe-Stealing Sweetheart!
Minka is an extra fluffy extra water obsessed German Shepherd x and we know her Mum is a full Shep and her dad a Shep x . She is definitely going to be a big black shaggy bear as at 13 weeks she weighed in at 10 kilos so between that and her big black paws we are expecting her to grow large.
Minka is the funniest, most laid-back puppy youâll ever meet. Sheâs a happy soul who adores lifeâs simple pleasuresâespecially water. When we say she loves water, we mean really loves water! Youâll often find her splashing in her shell pool, dunking her whole face under, or dropping toys in and retrieving them over and over. Sheâs just as happy dipping her paws in her water bucket as she is lounging in her pool. If you turn on the bath or shower, donât be surprised if Minka jumps in to join you!
Her second great love? Squeaky toys. Sheâll proudly parade them around, squeaking away to make sure you notice her âmusicalâ talents. Minka doesnât chew things she shouldnâtâthough she does enjoy a bit of playful mischief. She has mastered opening sliding doors and will occasionally grab a shoe, dash past you, drop it, give you a cheeky look⌠and zoom off again. Donât worryâshe never damages them.
Food comes in third place on Minkaâs favourites list. Sheâs currently eating premium dry food with raw meat twice a day, and sheâs also a big fan of apples, carrots, watermelon, pineapple, and cheese. She has no food aggression and will patiently wait for any tasty morsels that might (accidentally) fall her way in the kitchen.
Minka sleeps through the night and doesnât stir until she hears the household waking up. She used to be crate-trained but now prefers her dog bedâor the cool floor, depending on her mood. By day, youâll find her napping on a vent, in her bed, or stretched out on the floorboards.
She is fully house-trained and takes herself outside to the toilet. Sheâs never used a dog door, as sheâs been free to come and go through an open back door. In a new home, she may have a few settling-in accidents at first. We have also taken Minka to doggy play dates and she worked out the doggy door very quickly in new surroundings too.
Minka already knows how to sit (even if you just point to the ground), and is working hard on her stay, fetch, and bring the ball back. Sheâd benefit from ongoing training to strengthen her social skills and obedience. She enjoys daily walks, meeting new people, and saying hello to everyone she passes.
When sheâs not splashing in her pool, Minka loves tug-of-war, zoomies, and playing with the other dogs in her home. She thrives in an environment where her water play is encouragedâshe can happily entertain herself with her bucket, shell pool, and a collection of floating toys all day long.
Minka lives with teenagers and is wonderful with visiting younger children. She plays gently with all ages but due to her breed and size we will be seeking mature age children if they are in residence. She also lives harmoniously with several other dogs and would do well with a well-socialised, tolerant male dog who enjoys playful puppy energy. She hasnât been tested with cats.
Minka is an excellent travel buddy and enjoys car rides while safely clipped in with her seatbelt harness.
Minka has had 2 sets of puppy vaccines . is desexed , has had 2 vitamin B shots full parasite protection . and fully wormed
Minkaâs Ideal Home:
To set her up for success we feel the best fit home for her is as follows
Secure good size yard backyard with grass and shade
A family who will include her as part of the home (not just outside)
Another well-socialised male dog would be great but we would be seeking a well mannered boy of similar size with good energy to be her meteor. Play companion and BFF
If children are in the home we are seeking DOG savvy with larger breeds of mature age *+
Daily walksâshort and gentle while sheâs still growing
Plenty of love, attention, and ongoing training
A willingness to indulge her love of water play!
An experienced breed home who have the time and patience to train her and keep her well socialized with great exposure as she matures so she will mature into a great well rounded girl
