About Sonny
Sonny is a 2-year-old Rottweiler mix who's full of energy and loves being around people. He's a bit shy and jumpy at first, but with some gentle coaxing, he warms up quickly. Sonny is super affectionate, especially with kids, and just wants to be included in everything. He's playful and has a lot of energy, but he hates loud noises like vacuums and lawn mowers.
Sonny’s best friend (and bodyguard) is the resident Maremma, Asher who he spends all his time with. They frolic and sneak around like teenagers. Their nicknames are Bonnie and Clyde! He's good with other dogs and kids (though you should keep an eye on him with little ones), but not so much with cats or small animals. Sonny's a bit of a talker and even enjoys country music – he'll sit and listen to you sing and might even join in!
Sonny is quite vocal reaching into his inner wolf he often chats with the resident Husky or expresses his desire to play as well as his disappointment in the audacity of the others wanting to rest or nap. Sonny usually has to be brought inside at sundown, or he will bark at the birds flying home for the night (and the wind - if it can’t be seen it must be barked at).
He walks well on a harness but isn't a fan of collars. He's got some recall issues when he's fixated on something, so you'll need to keep an eye on him during games like tug-of-war. Sonny doesn’t usually activate his off switch until after dinner. He puts himself to bed after dinner each night and waits to be tucked in. Sleeps all night in his bed.
Sonny's looking for a patient owner who can give him lots of reassurance and maybe even another active dog to hang out with. You are welcome to call on 0484916393 for any questions about the dogs or our adoption process.
