About Zorro
Walks
Zorro loves going for a walk but isn’t a big exerciser – 1km is about his limit. It’s all about what there is to sniff rather than clocking a personal best.
He will get excited about getting out when he sees his collar and harness. We have a routine where he needs to sit on the mat before having this fitted – this can be with or without command (he knows the drill!). His lead has been attached to the D ring on the chest / front section of his harness (under his chin).
We use the ‘wait’ command at road crossings (he’ll stand still) and then ‘go’ to proceed.
We haven’t had Zorro off leash, and he hasn’t been to an off leash park since living with us.
Zorro is mostly desensitised to cars, birds (though magpies still seem to bug him), people, scooters and bikes. He can be more prone to react if something is coming at him with speed or if there is something that has already aroused him. He’s always up for a pat from adults and kids.
On leash, Zorro will ignore dogs barking at him from inside houses. He can react to dogs in near proximity with a bark. He doesn’t try to pull away or attack. We’ve had no issue managing him with the leash and harness.
Sleeping arrangement
Sleeps in his own bed outside of the family bedrooms. He enjoys being rugged up. During the cooler nights he’s been wearing his fleece coat (loose straps) and covered with his blanket. He snores.
Toileting
Zorro is house trained.
Home alone
Zorro has managed at home while we’ve been out for up to 5 hours. He tends to lie down / sleep.
When he first joined the household he did whine a little but with time settled in to lie down / sleep.
Pats
Zorro loves his pats. His fave spot is the white patch on his chest, but up around the ears is a winner too.
Other
We’ve had no issues with destructive behaviour, digging, escaping the yard, etc.
Zorro isn’t big on ‘play’, toys, or fetch, but will engage in a short game of tug with a tug toy.
If you think Zorro sounds like the dog for you please send an email and the rescue will be in touch.
Medical notes
No known pre-existing conditions.
