About kuromi
Rubes' journey to safety was not an easy one. Living on the streets with her siblings, she learned early how to keep her distance from people. While her siblings were brought into care, Rubes was clever and cautious, managing to evade capture. It was a couple of months later that she was finally found and brought to safety.
Having missed those early socialisation experiences, Rubes found shelter life overwhelming and people quite scary. But, with patience, gentle handling, and the company of kind, social cats, she has begun to open her heart. Slowly, she's learned that people can be trusted, and with those she knows well, she is affectionate, sweet, and quietly loving.
Rubes will be a "project kitty" for someone special. She will be very worried when she first arrives in her new home, so her world will need to start small, quiet, and safe. Her new family will need to be patient and understanding, knowing that trust takes time and that she may always carry a little of her shyness.
She will do best in a calm home with respectful older teens. In the right hands, Rubes will blossom in her own time, and the bond you'll share will be all the more special for the journey it took to get there.
