Meet Kong, a sweet young male miniature Dachshund/Chihuahua mix seeking a loving, safe home. Having faced a tough start in life, Kong is looking for a caring family willing to provide patience and understanding. He shows some separation anxiety and benefits from an owner who is home more often than not to help him feel secure. Kong can be unsure with close handling and startles easily, so gentle, slow introductions are recommended. He is best suited for a home with older children who can respect his boundaries. Outdoors, he should be supervised - he has previously scaled a 6-foot fence and may try again. Nervous around big dogs, Kong has not been tested with small dogs but might enjoy a calm, similar-sized canine companion. He is still learning to walk on a lead, and his new family should commit to positive, fear-free training to build his confidence. Kong is ready to find a patient family to help him flourish.
