Lazarus is a beautiful Labrador Retriever mix with a heart as golden as his coat. He also happens to be deaf — but don’t let that fool you into thinking he’s any less capable or loving. In fact, deaf dogs often form incredibly strong bonds with their people, relying on eye contact, hand signals, and routine to navigate the world.

This sweet boy is pure sugar — gentle, affectionate, and always ready to share his love. He thrives on companionship and would do best in a home where someone is around most of the time, or with another friendly dog to “show him the ropes” and help guide him.

What Lazarus Needs:

A patient and understanding family willing to learn or use simple hand signals.

Plenty of time with his humans — although he is happy to sleep when alone and would benefit from crate training.

A secure yard and safe environment, as deaf dogs can’t hear dangers approaching.

Ideally, a confident canine companion to help him settle in and build confidence.

In return, Lazarus will give you a lifetime of devotion, joy, and those soft-eyed “thank you” looks that melt your heart.
