About Maddi
Hi! I’m Maddi and I’m looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR MADDI
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/GxC5BEZacyavxB4u9
NOTE: You are unable to meet Maddi until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Maddi in person.
What I need in my new home:
• BREED KNOWLEDGE IS PREFERRED
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family
• Secure Fencing
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• It's ESSENTIAL I receive training in all aspects of my life so I can become a well natured behaved dog.
• SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a very sheltered life and can be a bit nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs that will help boost my confidence.
• I need to be the only dog at home, I bond quickly with one person and I get jealous and push other dogs away when they receive attention. I do spend my days at the shelter hanging out with lots of different small dogs with no issue so having playdates and meeting dogs while out walking isn't an issue.
• Once i come out of my shell i am a super playful and energetic girl so i will need a family that can keep up with me.
Things that I don’t want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• Kids, i can't quiet work out what they are and i am not a fan.
• I have a high prey drive so I can't go to a home that already has cats, rabbits/guinea pigs or chickens/ducks as I will chase them
My best features:
• I walk well on lead
• Well mannered
• Housetrained and used to being allowed inside but may have accidents while I try to settle in.
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I will require full basic training as I've had no training experience yet, although I am very responsive to my name and am a well mannered girl.
• I can be quite timid in new situations such as entering a building/home. I MUST have a family who'll allow me inside so I can see it isn't a scary place and to allow my confidence to grow.
Medical notes
I have luxating patella's.
Luxating patella in dogs, also known as a dislocated kneecap, occurs when the kneecap (patella) slips out of its normal groove on the thigh bone (femur). This condition is common in dogs, particularly in smaller breeds, and can cause intermittent limping, skipping, or even pain but can be easily managed with the potential for surgery later in the dogs life.
However, at this stage, I'm not showing any clinical signs such as limping or skipping.
