About Dave
Hi! I’m Dave and I’m looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR DAVE
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/19bzxEAixZrS6tSU8
NOTE: You are unable to meet Dave until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Dave in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family
• A doggie companion is a MUST to keep me company when my family isn't home or a family that is home all the time. I was always with another dog in my previous home and I suffer from separation anxiety which can result in trying to escape.
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent, including no gaps, holes or areas i could squeeze through to escape!)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• A family who promise to keep me well groomed and brush me regularly so I’m always looking and feeling my best
• Lots of love and attention
• I have previously lived with children (10 and up). We had limited contact, but I always behaved myself around them.
• Doggy daycare and group socialisation classes would be highly beneficial for me.
• I appeared scared of cats when meeting them at the shelter however once my confidence around them grows I might be more inquisitive. If going to a home with a cat they must be dog savvy and we must be introduced slowly.
• SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a very sheltered life and can be a bit nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence
My best features:
• Very playful
• Wiggle butt
• Highly food motivated
• Happy to hang out with other friendly dogs
• I love attention and having playtime with my humans
• Well mannered
• Exuberant & full of beans
• I LOVE toys, playing fetch and a game of tug-o-war
• Excitable and bouncy when meeting new people
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I will require full basic training as I've had no training experience yet
• I've only just learnt to walk on the lead since being at the shelter so I'm still a bit erratic but lots of walks will help me learn how to be great on the lead.
• As I have not been allowed inside before I am not housetrained yet
AN ADOPTION CAN'T BE APPROVED IF YOU HAVE CANNOT COME TO THE SHELTER TO MEET DAVE IN PERSON.
ANY EXISTING DOGS AT HOME MUST COME TO THE SHELTER TO MEET DAVE BEFORE AN ADOPTION CAN BE APPROVED
Medical notes
Stenotic nares – where the nostrils are too small to allow adequate passage of air making breathing through the nose difficult. Surgery to correct this is recommended and will be the responsibility of the new owner. Care is to be taken in hot conditions and when exercising.
