Hi, I'm Silhouette,
I'm a beautiful, smart, and friendly girl.
I love to be near you and to go everywhere with you. I'll follow you around the house like your shadow. I’ll even go into every room and help by supervising all of your cleaning and housekeeping chores.
I enjoy going out on walks where I can sniff and explore. This is new and exciting to me so I do tend to pull on the lead initially. But as with everything that I'm learning, the more I practice, the better I'm getting.
I'm good with other dogs and am respectful of their space. I prefer the calmer dogs and ones that don't get right up and personal in my face.
I'm happy meeting new people and while in foster care I have greeted all I've met politely. Except that I tend to jump when I'm excited but I'm learning that jumping is not the right thing to do.
Like all Labradors I am food obsessed and will grab food if given the chance. I will even take food off the bench or your plate if you're not looking. But once I'm reminded of my manners, I can sit and take food gently from your hand. So, at this stage, it would be best not to go to a home with children under 5.
I'm very good at being able to balance activity with rest. And when it's rest time, I want to be close to you, touching you and if allowed, sitting on you. I always want to be near you.
For this reason, I must live in a home where there is someone around most of the time, maybe working from home or retired. I want to live in a home where I'm included in everything and can go everywhere with my people. I don't want to be left home alone, even if there is another resident dog.
I have come so far in the short time that I've been in foster care. Previously, I was just one dog in a large group of dogs. Now I am made to feel special, and I am thriving.
I know that if I am given the love, gentle guidance and time, I can learn lots of positive new behaviours that will make me the perfect pal for all ages - young, old and everyone in-between.
And because I'm a very clever girl I would enjoy attending obedience classes where I can continue learning and stimulating my mind.
I am happy being the only dog in the house, I just need for there to be someone at home most of the time. I may be able to live with another gentle dog, pending a successful meet and greet.
I do have a chronic skin condition that makes me feel itchy. But my foster mum has been treating it every day and it feels much better. I will need ongoing treatment to keep this condition under control, so I need to be in a home where this daily commitment will be continued.
I need a home:
Allows indoor access at all times;
That doesn't have children under 5;
Can provide daily walks;
Can provide ongoing training;
Has a large back yard.
