Edward has a knack for making you feel loved and cherished, making him the perfect companion for someone looking for a loyal and devoted family member.
Edward has a strong love for food, so you'll find him keenly interested in his mealtimes. This treat-loving guy will be a great partner for someone who enjoys sharing quiet moments in the kitchen or lounge area, as he loves to be part of the action. With his stunning white coat, Edward must be an indoor-only, ensuring his ears and nose are protected from any further potential sun damage.
Edward’s affectionate nature is sure to bring endless joy, ensuring every day is filled with purrs and cuddles. If you're seeking a loving and loyal addition to your household, Edward may be the perfect match to enrich your life.
Medical notes
Medical Condition: Squamous Skin Cell Carcinoma - (resulting in Bilateral Pinnectomy Surgery).
A Bilateral Pinnectomy, (removal of the affected areas of both ears), is most commonly due to Squamous Skin Cell Carcinoma, usually due to prolonged sun exposure. Unfortunately, removing a cancer is no guarantee your pet’s health is out of the woods, and we are unable to rule out the possibility of future re-occurrences despite having completed this surgery. Many cancers can spread and return more aggressively at a later time, therefore prevention is definitely better than cure, which is why we recommend an indoor lifestyle for all cats.
Cryosurgery was also performed on some suspicious lesions ( inflamed non healing ulcers) on Edward’s nose. These areas are currently healing well.
It is important that Edward stays indoors only to minimize exposure to UV radiation. He can still be exposed to this radiation by lying behind a glass window so it is important to limit his exposure and to provide lots of shaded areas for him.
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
