About Misty
Introducing Miss Misty, an intelligent, independent, middle aged lady who is ready to find her forever home!
Misty came into the facility shy and shut down but quickly became used to the routine and really came out of her shell. She will be best rehomed to an adult only household due to her dislike of the sudden noise and fast movements that children tend to offer. She has had some exposure to staff children here at the facility and did not seek interactions with them but rather avoided them and continued doing what she was already doing. This will be further tested as she stays with us.
She is a semi energetic girl who will require 1-2 walks daily along with lots of affection and attention in the home every day. She has shown minimal interest in toys so far but, we are sure a more playful side may develop once she is settled at home. She enjoys hanging out with us in the office on a soft fluffy bed and may suit a work from home situation where she can hang close by and chew on a pigs ear or two. She has shown no concerns for resource guarding but should always be left alone to eat in peace.
We feel she would thrive being the only fur child in her new home because she is selective with her canine companions and has found the cats at the facility a bit scary and stressful. She will not suit a dog beach or park lifestyle but may enjoy walking with a social group of dogs approximately 3-6mths post adoption after she has had time to decompress and relax properly.
She has had some time and training put in previously and can already sit, drop, shake and is always keen and attentive to learn new tricks, if a tasty snack is on offer! She loves her food rewards and has shown no fussiness to anything that we have offered. She is currently eating two meals a day of wet and dry Adult dog food along with extra snacks and treats throughout the day.
She has a lovely short coat for easy maintenance but will require a jacket in winter to help keep her warm. She does allow handling quite well but could do with some more practice as she can be a bit wiggly at times making a basic check lots of fun.
If you think Misty is the dog for you then please feel free to jump online and fill in an application to meet her now!
