About Lottie
Meet Lottie, a sweet young whippet mix with a face to melt your heart. She has a happy and gentle disposition that makes her a perfect companion for families and individuals alike.
Lottie was born in February 2024 and weighs 14.1 kgs.
She's a little shy to begin with but quickly reveals her friendly nature once she gets to know you. She is great with gentle children and, although she doesn't jump up, she's perhaps a little too speedy for the very young - and they can be a tad noisy for her.
Lottie is dog-friendly, but being a sight hound, she'll probably chase a cat that runs across her yard. Birds, including poultry, are not her thing.
She is a clever, highly trainable and well-mannered young girl, having mastered the commands sit, stay, and come. She walks beautifully on leash. She’s also house-trained, almost crate-trained and loves a car ride.
The whippet is the unrivalled sprinter of the dog world, able to make hairpin turns at high speed. Lottie adores running fast and having plenty of room to play, making her an ideal match for someone who enjoys an active lifestyle.
Whether it's running at full speed in an open field, competing in agility trials, playing fly ball, participating in lure-coursing or snuggling up on your favorite chair, she balances energy and relaxation with the same poise, just like a mini greyhound.
While she's generally quiet indoors, Lottie will let you know if there's something worth barking at.
She is not just an athlete but also a devoted, affectionate family member. She's a gentle and loving companion with her family but can be a little reserved with people she doesn't know.
Having said that, she excelled herself recently on a visit to Akooramak Aged Care Centre. She interacted graciously with all the residents and allowed loads of pats and chats. We were very proud of her.
Size-wise. Lottie is small enough to fit in your lap but large enough to be a fantastic running partner, making her a versatile companion.
Lottie could live in most environments, including an apartment, if she gets a good sprint twice a day. Like the greyhound, she's happy to spend much of the day relaxing, as long as she's with you - preferably close to you - but she needs the chance to run fast every day to feel at peace with the world.
Her adventurous spirit, however, does come with one requirement: secure fencing. Lottie is nimble on her feet and she has a great spring in her step. If minded to do so, she could sail over a one-metre-high fence, so a securely fenced yard is essential to keep her safe.
If you're looking for a loyal friend who's up to an active outing or a quiet afternoon indoors, Lottie is ready to bring joy, love, and a little bit of adventure into your life.
