💔 Miss Macey Moo – a story of heartbreak, healing, and hope 💔
Seven years ago, Macey Moo was born into rescue. She came into this world under the care of SARR, born to a feral mum and adopted as a sweet little kitten.
But something happened in the years that followed, something we’ll never fully know.
She was returned to us after being kept outside, due to a child’s allergies and complaints from neighbours. When she arrived back in care, she was unrecognisable, angry, terrified, and completely shut down. She would swipe and hiss when approached, even for food. Touching her body would trigger intense reactions. It was like the world had been so unkind to her that she no longer trusted anyone to be gentle.
We were heartbroken. We sedated her at the vet, certain she was in pain. We did full bloods, X-rays, everything, but her body was fine. Her mind and spirit were not.
We believe Macey endured trauma while left to wander outside, perhaps mistreatment, fear, and loneliness shaped the walls she built around herself. But we weren’t going to give up on her.
We started her on medication, a tiny tablet twice a day, and slowly the Macey we once knew began to return. Now, she lets us pat her, pick her up, and feed her without fear. She’s incredibly vocal and still tells you when she's had enough, but the difference is night and day.

She needs a very special home, one with no other cats, with someone patient, kind, and understanding of her trauma. Someone who will let her settle in at her own pace, with no expectations and no pressure, just love.
Macey is fine with dogs who give her space, but she is best suited as an only cat. She could also live with older children who respect her boundaries.
She comes with all her vet records and medication, and all the support we can offer.

Adoption details
*Please only apply if you reside 4hrs from Shepparton
* You will have a list of questions sent that you need to answer and send back.
* (For dog applications) Photos are requested of your yard, the fencing and any undercover shelter areas (patio/pergola) that must be sent through along with answers to questions.
* It’s not first in best dressed and we pride ourselves in finding the perfect family home for the animals in our care and make sure each family finds the perfect animal as well.
* We feed our cats on Lifewise, bags are available to buy from us.
* We also offer a 2 week trial on all animals that are adopted from this rescue organisation, if returned during this time a refund less 10% is given.
* Meet and greets are always taken prior to adoption, on the day if all goes well and you are happy, you can adopt on the spot and take your animal home to begin the next chapter together. We don't offer more than 1 meet and greet.
*All animals listed on our petrescue page are available for adoption until the moment they are removed
