Hi, I'm Sweetie - and YES, I live up to that name in every way!
Coming in to the shelter as a stray, I was scared, unsure and unaware what my future would bring. I tried my best to show the staff I could be a great cat, but as gentle and patient as they were, the busy shelter environment was so overwhelming for me and I couldn't break through my fears.
I wouldn't eat, no - I couldn't eat! That was until one of the staff members took me home to a much quieter and calmer environment. She spent time with me in the shelter and I could tell she wanted to love me... So I let her in... Just enough for her to know that I wanted her to take that chance on me! She was also patient with me, trying different foods to tempt me - but I still wasn't quite sure and wouldn't give in to temptation just yet. So she tested a theory. Maybe I needed a cat around to help me feel more confident? BINGO! The second I was around the resident cat and I saw the food bowl, off I went! From then on, I was the happiest cat!
I have spent time in foster with other cats & also primary school aged children - and thrived. I LOVE a blanket to snuggle in and will happily sit with you whilst we watch TV - although I can never seem to finish a movie and end up falling asleep! I've spent nights sleeping with the 5 year old human child, and love feeling secure and safe in her arms under the blankets. She really gives the best cuddles!
Never have I lashed out in fear - I can sometimes be spooked when you approach, but once you start petting me, I return the love with plenty of affectionate smooches. What can I say, I LOVE love!
I do like to find dark spaces to watch from sometimes, but once I am truly comfortable in a home, I think I could happily stay out in the open areas of the home and lap up some sunshine through the windows. I'll always come out from hiding when there is a fellow feline present to smooch!
I am not sure that I could live with a dog though - the loud and snorty French Bulldog at my foster home was a bit scary for me! Maybe a doggo who was happy to keep to themselves could be tolerated, in time.
If you are looking for a friendly feline and have a lot of patience and love to give, I promise that's me! Enquire on Pet Rescue to meet me today!
