About Bertram
Meet Bertie – The Ball-Chasing, Couch-Cuddling Gentleman! 🐾
Bertie (short for Bertram) is a handsome, confident little gentleman with a big heart and an even bigger love for life’s simple pleasures. Whether it’s soaking up the sun on a cozy couch, receiving a good scratch on the bum, or chasing his favourite ball at the park, Bertie embraces every moment with joy and charm.
This sweet Pom is the full package: he’s toilet trained, knows how to sit on cue, comes when called (especially if there’s fun involved!), and walks beautifully on lead. He remains calm around other dogs and even cats, and is always happy to offer a friendly tail wag to passers-by – especially those who smile at him first!
At home, Bertie is gentle and respectful. He currently lives with a small, shy Toy Poodle and does a wonderful job giving her space and helping her feel secure. He’s a sociable and affectionate companion who enjoys being close to his people and thrives on interaction, playtime, and cuddles.
One of Bertie’s greatest joys is heading to the park for a game of fetch – he’s truly ball-obsessed and lights up with excitement during his play sessions. When the fun is over, he happily recharges on the couch (his "wireless charger"), soaking up affection and snoozing the day away on a soft surface.
Ideal Home:
Bertie would love a home with a secure backyard or outdoor space where he can explore, sniff, and sunbathe between ball games. That said, he’s currently living happily in an apartment and doing beautifully – daily walks and enrichment keep him content and balanced.
As a proud little watchdog, Bertie may give a friendly bark when someone approaches the door, just to let you know they’re there. But rest assured, he greets visitors with charm and enthusiasm once the door opens.
He’ll thrive in a home where people are around most of the time – Bertie loves being involved and near his humans. While he’s fine being left alone for a few hours, his ideal day includes lots of companionship and quality time.
At night, Bertie prefers to sleep close to his people – the bed is his top pick, but he’s happy with a soft spot nearby. He’s a true comfort-seeker, always on the lookout for the cosiest corner of the couch or blanket.
Energy Level:
Bertie is a low-key legend with a playful side. Most of the day, he’s relaxed and content to lounge around. But when it’s time to play or go for a walk, he comes alive! His joyful energy is especially evident during his beloved fetch sessions at the park.
He currently enjoys two walks a day, each around 40 minutes to an hour, which helps keep him happy, healthy, and well-balanced. After that, he’s more than ready to curl up and enjoy some well-earned rest.
Suitability for Children:
While Bertie hasn’t spent time with children yet, his sweet nature and playful spirit suggest he would enjoy the company of respectful kids who know how to interact gently with dogs. With proper introductions, he’s likely to be a wonderful family companion.
Suitability for Other Pets:
Bertie hasn’t had close interactions with cats, but he’s shown little interest when passing them on walks – so with the right introductions, he may do well with a confident, dog-savvy cat.
He currently lives peacefully with a shy Toy Poodle and is very respectful of her boundaries. At the park, he greets other dogs politely, though he’s usually more interested in his ball or exploring than socialising. He could happily share a home with another calm, friendly dog – or enjoy being the centre of attention as an only pet.
Bertie is an absolute joy to have around. He’s friendly, lively, and full of personality. He’s obsessed with his ball and lights up at the park – I’ve honestly never seen a dog look so delighted! At home, he also loves his toys, and we have little daily wrestling matches, which he absolutely adores.
He’s confident, curious, and travels well in the car – especially if he gets a window view. Bertie is clever, quick to learn, and a little cheeky at times, but it’s nothing a treat can’t fix! He’s become more affectionate every day, always seeking out cuddles and snuggling closer on the couch. He really is such a sweet, clever boy and will make a wonderful companion
