About Hugo
Say hello to this beautiful boy!
Hugo is a big-hearted British Bulldog with a squishy face, soulful eyes, and a snore that could shake the windows.
At 5 years old and weighing in at 26kgs, Hugo is a sturdy gentleman with an affectionate soul.
Hugo came into care after some amazing people took him in and helped him with some health issues he was having - skin allergies, paw pad injuries, ear infection, eye infection etc.
They did an amazing job with him and then reached out to rescue when it was time to find him his furever home. The rescue has continued to ensure that Hugo's skin, ears, eyes, skin folds etc are all healthy and not infected.
The rescue has also desexed Hugo to ensure no future little Hugo's exist.
Hugo is completely toilet trained and, while he has not had a chance to try a doggy door, he is clever enough to figure it out if given the opportunity, especially if treats are involved, Hugo isn't crate trained, but with his relaxed demeanor, he's just happy to chill on his bed or couch.
Hugo has a delightful mix of calm and playful energy. A 20 to 30 minute walk each day is usually enough to keep him happy, after which he is more than content to curl up in a sunny spot and snore the afternoon away. If he has had a big day out, he is likely to sleep it off for a couple of days afterwards, Enjoying the finer things in life like rest, relaxation and more rest.
Hugo is mostly a quiet boy but he will let out a bark or two if other dogs are barking or if he wants your attention.
Hugo absolutely loves affection and thrives on human connection. In the evenings, his favourite spot is right beside you on the couch where he can soak up cuddles and pats.
Hugo enjoys engaging with toys, especially treat-filled puzzles or even cardboard boxes with hidden treats.
Anything involving food is instantly appealing to him.
Hugo is great with children of all ages, although his solid build means he may accidentally knock over smaller kids in his enthusiasm, So best with older children.
Hugo enjoys the company of other dogs but can occasionally display a little "small dog syndrome" around bigger dogs. He is fine around smaller dogs, and his overall nature is easy-going and friendly. That said, he is perfectly happy being the only dog in his foster home and will soak up all the attention you have to give.
Hugo is a No for cats
When it comes to sleeping arrangements, Hugo is not fussy. He is just as happy in his bed or on the couch, especially if there is a patch of warm sunshine to stretch out in. At night, he enjoys being tucked in with a cosy blanket, and yes, the blankets do need to be smoothed out just right for him to settle properly. He appreciates the small comforts in life.
One of Hugo’s unique quirks is his ability to snore with gusto, even while standing up, now that's skill!
Hugo is full of personality, loves meeting new people, and becomes especially excited when his humans return home. He enjoys plenty of physical contact but may be slightly cautious if a stranger goes straight to pat his head.
As a short-nosed British Bulldog , Hugo is prone to some skin irritation in warmer months, particularly around his feet and legs. With regular cleaning and care, this is easily managed. His beautiful, expressive face and easy-going nature make him a joy to have around.
If you are looking for a companion who is full of character, loves a cuddle, enjoys a good nap, and will adore you completely.
Then Hugo may just be the perfect dog to welcome into your heart and home.
Do you think you and your family is the perfect fit for Hugo ?
