Medical notes
Herbie is desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, flea and worm treated.
All high risk cats are FIV tested and Herbie has returned a positive result.
What does this mean? Herbie has a condition that affects his immune system.
Can he live a long and healthy life? Yes. In the right conditions. Herbie has been given a clean bill of health by our vet. As long as he is kept inside the risks to illness are significantly reduced.
And he can’t have any other cat friends? No. if an owner wants to get the vaccine for their FIV free cat they can complete the course of three vaccinations - and the rescue can help access this at a reasonable price. Once this is done they need to maintain an annual FIV vaccine to prevent spread. However Herbie could live with another FIV positive cat.
He also has a nose boop which is healing nicely.
