Meet Shiro,
If you’re an active household that thrives on energy, fun, and a little bit of cheeky mischief, Shiro might just be your perfect match!
Shiro is a bright, bubbly girl with a heart full of excitement and a tail that never stops wagging. She’s happiest when she’s on the move - whether that’s heading out for a hike, splashing at the beach, joining you on a camping trip, or just exploring new places with her people. She’s got the smarts to keep up with your active lifestyle and loves keeping her mind busy too, so puzzle toys, training sessions, and new challenges will be right up her alley.
This sweet whirlwind is friendly, playful, and social, always eager to meet new friends (both human and furry). She’s also curious, a little stubborn at times, and full of personality - you’ll never have a dull moment with Shiro around! But at the end of the day, she’s more than happy to settle in and relax after all the fun - she loves comfort!
Shiro would thrive in a lively home with experienced dog owners who can embrace her energy and keep her engaged. If you’re looking for a smart, affectionate, and endlessly entertaining dog who’s always ready for the next adventure, Shiro is waiting to meet you!
Ideal Home: Shiro is fine to live in either a standalone home or on a farm/acerage, with a medium to large yard and high, secure fencing.
Family: Shiro is open to meet kids from 13 years and up. This is because of her energy levels and play style. She has a lot of energy to burn and older kids will be able to keep up with her.
Shiro is best to live with people who work part-time hours. She shows no signs of separation anxiety but she thrives being around people more often than not. She is able to spend time on her own in the yard but she'd need something to do - like a food/treat puzzle or something similar to keep her mind active. On occasion she'd love to be inside with her new family, too.
Furry Friends: Shiro is dog selective - and what we mean by that is that other dogs will be selective of her. She's young, energetic, and very eager to make friends and because of all of these she often forgets her manners and can play rough. With a little socialisation training, Shiro would be able to make friends easily, but not right now - Shiro is open to meet other dogs and she'd be best suited to dogs with a similar play style as her.
Shiro is not suitable to live with cats/pocket pets.
Training & Development: Shiro would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. Group classes would be beneficial to Shiro so that she can learn how to appropriately interact and play with other dogs.
With additional training and time to settle into a new routine, Shiro could be the type of dog that you can take to a dog friendly café or social setting. Currently Shiro is known to jump but she really only does this during play time when she is very excited.
Shiro is still learning her name but she knows commands such as: sit, down and stay.
She is food motivated and gentle when taking treats from you - so having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Shiro has high-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 60mins+ mins a day to keep her Happy and healthy. Shiro shows interest in playing with toys. She also likes personal play with her handlers and going for walks.
Shiro walks well on lead, with minimal pulling - but she can pull on occasion especially towards a point of interest. She is best to be walked on a martingale.
Staff Comments: Shiro is a very loving dog that is very playful. She loves sitting in between your legs and getting cuddles. She adores your attention and once she learns some more obedience training she will be a great companion for any person!

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
