Scootles

Hi, I’m Scootles and the last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind for me!
I haven’t had the best life and although I am sure my human loved me, I have been pretty neglected throughout my life.
In fact, I have never even seen the vet! I didn’t even have a microchip! I had absolutely no paperwork at all.
Whilst this didn’t matter to the KPR team, it did cause one dilemma and that is how old I actually am.
My human couldn’t really remember but she guessed that I could be anywhere up to 12 years old. The KPR vet believes that I am closer to around 8 years old, but the truth is, my real age is probably somewhere in the middle of that range.
I had a few things going on with my health. Due to my poor diet and flea burden, my skin and fur were not as good as they should be. I had missing fur along my back and tail base. I had quite a large fatty lump on my chest, a significant heart murmur and my teeth………..don’t even get me started on those!
Of course, the first things to address were my basic needs. A health check, a microchip, a C5 vaccination and a heartworm test. Then, I was booked in for all my surgery.
Along with being desexed, I also had my lump removed. It was just a fatty lump (lipoma) but it would have gotten bigger if it was left. Then it was time for my dental………….
My mouth was so sore and so infected. I was used to it of course, so I didn’t complain, but once the vet had a good look inside my mouth, she was so sad. She tried really hard to save some of my teeth but unfortunately, they all had to be removed. Don’t worry though, without all that pain and pus, I feel like a new doggo!
Since having all of my vet work done, I have gained a new lease on life! I am super happy, eating well and showing love to all of the humans and other doggos I meet! I have made so many friends!
Although my heart murmur is something I have to live with, I am not showing any symptoms and do not require any medication at this time. This may change though, and my new humans will need to be aware of this if they adopt me.
The great news is that I am awesome with other dogs and absolutely fine with cats. I am friendly and loving and I love to be cuddled up on my human’s lap. I only weigh 3kg so I don't take up much space!
