About Patch
Hi! I’m Patch and I’m looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR PATCH
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/JYNRiCczsdicfaLq9
NOTE: You are unable to meet Patch until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Patch in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• Lots of love and attention
• A quiet & mature family/household - this is what I am used too
• I am very people orientated however am not fond of being picked up
• I am NOT keen on bigger dogs
• I need to be the only dog at home, I get jealous and will pick fights. I am ok to socialize and be around other dogs when out & about on a walk, at the beach etc. and am good at doggy daycare & boarding however I am not interested in interacting with them
• No young children as when I'm excited I get very bouncy and mouthy, older children who will be involved with my training should be ok.
• I can be shy at first so I need a family who’ll allow me to grow in confidence in my own time
• I have never interacted with another dog before coming into the shelter so I can be unsure of how to behave around and with them! I will require a lot of positive socialisation with other dogs so that my behaviour improves and not deteriorates towards them.
• I have a high prey drive so I can't go to a home that already has cats, rabbits/guinea pigs or chickens/ducks as I will chase them
• SOCIALISATION is super important for me as it appears I've led a very sheltered life and can be a bit nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence

Things that I don’t want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• No young children as I can be a bit shy in new situations and with new people and little ones may accidently scare me. Older children who will be involved with my training should be ok
• No other dogs - I don't mind passing them and saying hi when out and about but I do not have much tolerance for them
• Cats or small animals as I may find them fun to chase
My best features:
• Very playful
• Highly food motivated
• I have had some basic obedience training and am a generally well-mannered dog
• I love attention and having snuggles with my humans
• Love to snooze on the couch
• Well mannered
• I walk well on lead for a young doggo but having daily walks should help me improve my lead skills
• Exuberant & full of beans
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I am shy at first with new people and in new environments so will require a family who will take their time allowing me to settle in and continue on with my socialization
• I appear to have issues with resource guarding when it comes to my toys and treats. I will need some training to help fix and to get rid of this behaviour. I will happily give you the toy or treat I am guarding for something of higher value. With commitment and time, we will be able to work on this together
• No other dogs - I'm scared of them and will snap in their face if they get too close. I really need a family who'll socialise me with lots of other dogs so I learn that doggies are not big scary creatures
• I will be very shy at first so I need a family who'll allow me to grow in confidence in my own time, without forcing me to interact.
