Hi there! My name’s Barbie, I’m a sweet, sensitive JRT x looking for my special forever home.

I might be small in size, but my heart is big. I can be a bit of a nervous girl when meeting new people so I’m hoping to find a calm and patient family who have had a dog before and who understands I need to take things at my own pace. No apartment living for me, please—I much prefer a peaceful home in a quiet neighborhood where I can feel safe. Because I’m shy, I’d do best in a home without young children. Kids over 12 who are calm and respectful of my space could be a good fit, especially if they understand that I don’t like to be overhandled and will come to them when I’m ready. I’ll also need to meet everyone in the family before I move in—building trust is important to me, and I like to know who I’ll be living with.

I don’t enjoy the company of other pets and really prefer to have my humans all to myself, so I’ll need to be the only pet in the home.

Someone who’s home more often, especially during the settling in period, will help me settle in and feel secure. I find it hard being left alone and will need support and structure to help me feel comfortable while you’re out. So having someone who can advocate for me, read my signals, and give me time to adjust will make a world of difference. If you’ve got the time, patience, and understanding to help a little dog like me blossom, I promise I’ll be your most loyal companion. I just need someone who’s willing to meet me where I’m at—and walk with me, step by step, as I learn to feel safe and loved.
