About Max - 1 Year Old Kelpie X
Meet Max — Full of Love, Laughter and Puppy Energy!
Max is a big-hearted, affectionate boy with a playful spirit and an endless supply of snuggles to give. At just 1 year he’s still very much a puppy — energetic, cheeky, and always ready to be part of the action. He absolutely adores his humans, and there’s nothing he loves more than curling up beside you for a cuddle after a big day of exploring. Max came to Dog Rescue Newcastle at just 2.5 weeks old and even then he was the first in line to snuggle into his foster carer's lap. Not much has changed since, and he is so excited to find new laps to nap on!
Max would be best suited to an active home where he can be included as one of the family. He thrives with routine, attention, and lots of stimulation — both mental and physical. A home with older children (8 years +) would be ideal, as he’s still learning how to navigate excitement and boundaries in a calm way. He needs a calm owner who can provide him with structure and routine to remind him of his manners.
He currently lives happily with another dog, but he can be unsure when meeting new canine friends, so any introductions should be slow and positive. With time and patience, he has the potential to become a loyal companion to another dog or be your one-and-only adventure buddy.
Like many working breed pups, Max is still learning the ropes and will need a patient and dedicated owner to help guide him into the gorgeous dog that we know he is. He can be a bit mischievous if left to his own devices, so he is best suited for a part time worker and someone with breed experience, who understands how to keep this intelligent boy occupied. He also has a high natural prey drive, so homes with pet birds, pocket pets or free-roaming chickens would not suit.
What Max truly needs is someone committed to helping him grow into the incredible dog he’s meant to be. He’s smart, eager to please, and absolutely bursting with potential. With a patient, loving owner and a bit of training, Max will repay you tenfold with his loyalty, affection, and goofy charm.
Max is almost fully grown and we expect that he won’t get much bigger than his medium size currently. You will need at least 6ft solid fencing, with no gaps (rural and mesh fencing will not be accepted). Max will need a family who will welcome him inside, and he would love to be a part of all your everyday activities so he can continue to expand on his socialisation.
Max’s adoption fee is $700, and he is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and treated for fleas and worms. Max is in care in Pelican, NSW and is available for interstate adoption.
