About Raj - 11 Year Old Tenterfield Terrier
Raj is a friendly, affectionate and gentle little dog. Raj’s favourite place is cuddling up beside his carer, on the lounge.
He is a patient friend of his carer’s 2 yo grandchild. He enjoys when the child is gentle, and although Raj runs away if the child is getting heavy-handed, Raj is never aggressive.
Raj does not bark, though he is happy to see you and whines excitedly when he hears the car arrive home. He loves going for walks on a lead but is still learning to stay on one side of the walker.
He is dog friendly, although is very timid with meeting new dogs, and would require a meet and greet with any resident dogs in his new home.
Raj copes well with his carer being at work (part-time). He moves around the garden & verandah, mostly lying in the sun or vigilantly but silently watching people walking along the path beside the house.
Raj is not completely house-trained. He is finding it difficult to remember not to mark his territory inside the house. He has learnt to stay in the main area of the house (away from carpeted areas).
Raj sleeps outside in a warm kennel on the covered verandah and remains quiet overnight. When he hears activity in the morning he gives his quiet whine until the door is opened, then jumps on the spot in excited greeting.
Like most Tenterfield Terriers, Raj is usually low shedding except at the change of season, when he sheds profusely. He enjoys being brushed & requires regular antifungal baths.
Raj is developing cataracts in his eyes. He can see just fine during the day, but after dusk, he gets nervous if he's away from home. In his familiar environment, he manages well.
Raj is in foster care in Maitland, NSW. His adoption fee is $400 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, and microchipped.
