About Shadow Moon
Introducing Shadow Moon, or Shadow for short, a delightful Samoyed x Kelpie mix who radiates charm and love with every wag of his tail. Shadow is ready to find a new family who will cherish his delightful personality as much as he cherishes time spent with his best friends. As a friendly and affectionate companion, Shadow thrives on love and companionship, always eager to be your loyal confidant.
This well-mannered boy has adapted beautifully to his current environment, enjoying the fresh air and sunshine during the day and relishing cozy evenings inside with the family. Whether he's snuggling on the couch or curling up for a nap indoors, Shadow looks forward to these moments of togetherness each day. Meeting new people is a joy for Shadow, who happily soaks up gentle pats and attention from everyone he encounters. He adores children, having lived with a 3-year-old, although his excitement may mean kids around 5+ are best. But rest assured, he remains gentle and loving in their presence.
Shadow has shown impressive social skills with other animals, having happily stayed with another dog. Whether residing solo or sharing a home with a fellow canine, Shadow thrives in a setting that includes love, attention, and positive interactions. He's an independent spirit, entertaining himself while his carer is at work, yet eagerly embracing playtime in the backyard and the opportunity to run around.
Going for walks is an absolute delight for Shadow. He is easy to handle, rarely pulling, and though he may bark at a noisy neighbor or a cheeky possum, he takes it all in stride. Shadow loves to explore, savoring every fascinating scent in his world, and he's made great strides practicing his loose lead walking. Occasionally, he indulges in a bit of mischief, typical of a pup, so long-lasting chews and toys like Kongs keep him both busy and happy.
Shadow's ideal home features a loving family eager to welcome an affectionate companion into their lives. With his experience living with young children and other dogs, Shadow fits beautifully into a family prepared to continue his training, allowing him to develop into the well-mannered gem he so wants to be. In return, he offers his unwavering loyalty and affection, creating a harmonious and joyful household.
To set him up for success we feel the best home for Shadow is
A home with a medium to larger size backyard with grass, shelter, and secure fencing
A home with or without children, they must be dog savvy children who are mature and are respectful of dogs
If there is a dog in residence it must be well socialised and have a love of play as Shadow loves to be everyone's playfriend .
A home who will allow him both inside and out
We have not tested him with cats
A home that have the time and dedication to ensure he is walked and well stimulated and kept healthy with daily exercise

Medical notes
Shadow had xrays when he arrived as he had a very slight limp we could not understand
Vet notes are as follows He was found to have a chronic old femoral neck fracture of the right hind leg. At this stage, we feel the fracture is no longer painful and a very functional 'pseudo-joint' has formed, preventing the need for surgery. There is an approximate 5-10% chance of the femoral head (ball) needing removal in the future via surgery. Otherwise we expect good function of the right hindleg, particularly if Shadow Moon is kept at a good bodyweight.
