Meet Vale,
Vale is a gentle soul who’s looking for a calm, quiet home where she can truly shine. She can be a little shy and timid at first, but once she feels safe, her warm and affectionate nature blossoms.
She’s a smart, curious girl who enjoys exploring her surroundings and has a playful, social side that makes her a delight to be around. Vale loves engaging with her humans and will happily join you for walks, though she doesn’t have demanding exercise needs.
Vale would be best suited to experienced dog owners who understand the needs of a sensitive dog. With a little patience and plenty of love, she’ll reward you with her trust and the sweetest bond. She's progressed so much and has come such a long way from where she was. She's a wonderful dog whose quiet, sweet & loving.
Ideal Home: Vale is fine to live in either a standalone home or on a farm/acerage, with a medium to large yard and high, secure fencing.
Family: Vale is open to meet kids of any age. There is no age restriction, but kids in the home should be understanding of her timidity and her needs- we want her to be comfortable in her new home.
Vale is fine to live with people who work full-time hours as she shows no signs of separation anxiety. She is able to spend time in the yard on her own too but would also love to be inside with her new family too.
Furry Friends: Vale is best to be the only dog in the home for now. She desperately wants to make friends but her timidity gets in the way of her confidence - she gives all the signs of a social, friendly dog - but when the other dog approaches, it becomes too much for Vale and she tries to hide from the other dog. Vale is good to walk around other dogs, but meeting them face to face is a step she is not quite comfortable with just yet. We feel that with ongoing socialisation training Vale will be able to make friends in no time.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Vale would go living with, or meeting, cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Vale would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. Seeking the help of a pro trainer to assist with her confidence building would be a good idea too, but this is also something that you can both work on together at home.
Vale is still learning her name, but she knows commands such as: sit. She is also learning how to shake and appears partly toilet trained as well. She is food motivated and is gentle when taking treats from you - so having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Vale has mid-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 20-60mins every other day to keep her healthy and happy. Vale likes to play with soft toys and shows interest playing with rope toys too. She also likes personal play with her handlers, training sessions and going for walks.
Vale walks well on lead, with minimal pulling. She is fine to be walked on either a harness or collar.
Staff Comments: Vale is a very affectionate dog with a gentle nature. She is hoping that her new owner will have the kindness and patience to help her become more confident. She's progressed and has come such a long way from where she was. She's a wonderful dog whose very quiet, sweet & loving.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
The adoption fee for dogs covers C5 vaccination, health check, heartworm testing, desexing, micro-chipping, and registration.
