About Maggie
"Hi, I’m Maggie, a sweet and affectionate gal who’s looking for a family that understands the joys of living with a large breed like me!
I love walks and having a good sniff around. I am young, so I enjoy cuddles and play time with humans including playing tug of war. And I really love my stuffed toys!
I enjoy my naps during the day and can sleep in my bed whilst you get work done around the house.
I love being around kids and can play with other dogs. I am new to other dogs but so far, I have been able to match energy with dogs that love to play.
I am a bigger dog so will need someone who can manage my energy and size. I am eager to please and can already understand simple commands but will need someone who can teach me some more."
Maggie is an absolute sweetie of a dog with a great temperament.
She has a lot of energy and is big. She does jump a lot so would need someone who can match her strength and energy. She can be walked but she pulls a fair bit, so would need strong and experienced owners.
It can be hard to stop her from eating if she gets into something she's not supposed to, but you can get her to sit and drop so I'm sure with some training and persistence she will be a lovely obedient dog.
She is able to be left in the yard while you work from home or go out to the shops for a couple of hours with no issues. She may whimper when you first leave, but she will calm down quickly
Maggie bonds with humans very quickly, so can show some separation anxiety tendencies, but in time she will settle in well.
She loved being around lots of people and getting lots of cuddles. She is fantastic and very gentle with kids.
She is also very social with other dogs, and during interactions with other dogs, she has done lots of polite sniffing and dropping on the ground to show her submission. She has shown no signs of aggressions, dominance, or any other antisocial behaviour. She would be best suited to playing with other medium and large breeds.
Maggie is house-trained and has not had any toileting issues in her foster placements. She knows to take herself to bed at night, but mostly, she just wants to be near you.
Maggie also has no issues with travelling in a car.
Maggie is an amazing and sweet dog and just needs the right humans to train her and handle her size and energy. Everyone who meets her absolutely loves her and also agrees that she is such a sweetie.

Adoption details
Please do not apply to adopt via our animals' PetRescue profile.
Follow the links below to be directed to the Wollongong City Council website, and find your preferred animal's online profile.
Once in the online profile, scroll down and click the link to complete an adoption application. Once received, a member of our team will be in touch to discuss your application and suitability for your preferred animal.
If we deem the animal to be suitable for your home and lifestyle, an in-person meet and greet may be organised. Should your meet and greet be a success, you can take your new furry friend home that day or following their desexing surgery.
