About Benji
Please note Benji is back up for adoption - please do not apply if you are going on holidays, surgery or you haven't discussed with other members of your household. Please also ensure if applying that you do have another active dog for Benji to socialize with.
Meet this gorgeous little fluff, Benji!
He's a 4 year and 3-month-old Maltese x Toy Poodle who tips the scales at a very manageable 5.4 kgs.
Benji maybe small in size but he is definitely bursting with character.
Please note - Benji is blind in his right eye due to another dog scratching his eye when he was young, however this does not affect Benji in the slightest, nor slow him down, this clever and cheerful little lad is looking for a family who will appreciate both his independence and his playful spirit,
Benji is fully toilet trained, although he has never been crated or used a doggy door, we believe with his witty smart character, Benji would figure out a doggy door with ease.
Benji is Mr independent and will happily take himself off to bed when he’s ready to snooze, usually curling up in his dog bed beside his foster mum's bed, or occasionally on the mat next to the bed.
In the early morning hours, Benji loves to hop up on the bed and snuggle in close.
Benji has a playful energy and a sharp little mind, Benji loves to zip and zoom around the backyard, chase after his toys, and run rings around his foster brother.
Benji has recently discovered the joy of fetch and is already bringing the ball back like a seasoned pro. Zoomies are a daily event, usually in the late afternoon, and watching his tail-chasing pirouettes is sure to leave you in stitches.
Benji loves walks and handles his lead well, often trotting proudly ahead while making sure to leave a few messages for his fellow doggy friends.
Benji is curious and alert, barking at unfamiliar noises or Neighbours, but settles quickly with a gentle “ah ah” reminder.
Benji enjoys meeting new people and is great with kids, particularly the younger kids who bring cuddles, attention, and the occasional dropped snack.
Benji thrives with the companionship of other dogs and would love to have a playful doggy friend in his new forever home, it really is a must!
Benji has lived peacefully with a range of small doggy friends and is full of friendly confidence, although he hasn’t yet met any big dogs and is untested with cats, although given Benji’s beautiful nature, we believe he'd be Ok with a confident adult cat, and of course with the proper introductions.
Benji’s favorite hobbies include digging around the yard in search of lizards, he's never actually caught one, curling up beside you with his head on your leg, and watching dog shows on TV, especially “The Dog House,” which he finds utterly captivating, it's really adorable to see.
He also has a strong appreciation for dinner time and will let you know it is time to serve by politely tapping his paw on his bowl, we got the hint pretty quickly on that one!
Benji is very Clever and food-motivated, he already knows how to sit, shake paws, lie down, stand up, and even strut around on his hind legs like a furry little circus act.
Benji adores praise and is eager to show off his skills in exchange for a tasty treat or a cuddle. While he enjoys affection, Benji is not overly needy and is quite content lounging at your feet or keeping a quiet watch from the nearest sunny spot.
He is an affectionate, funny, and an intelligent little lad who has settled into his foster home with ease and adapts very quickly to the house routine.

So, if you have a cosy couch, a bit of yard for zoomies, gentle hand, TV with doggy shows and a furry friend or two, then Benji could be your perfect match.
Benji’s got the manners of a gentleman, the heart of a clown, and the soul of a cuddle bug and is ready to make your house his forever home, as long as you promise to share your heart, your treats, and maybe just a bit of your bed.

Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email.
