Alfie

Meet Alfie, an endearing and highly affectionate young Jack Russell Terrier with a vibrant spirit and engaging personality. Born on 18 May 2024 and weighing just 7.5 kgs, this sweet-natured pup will bring fun and warmth to your home.

Alfie is great with other dogs, but untested with cats. He currently lives happily with two female dogs. He is untested with children, but there's no reason to doubt his compatibility with older kids who have good dog manners. He's probably too bouncy and exuberant for the very young.

Alfie is 95% house-trained, but needs ongoing encouragement, especially while settling in, to achieve this goal. He sleeps well through the night.

Since coming into care, he's learnt his basic commands and has shown himself to be a trainable little fellow. Equipped with good lead manners, he may show a little enthusiasm at first by pulling, but will quickly settle into a rhythm. True to his Jack Russell nature, he's endlessly curious, and his keen sense of smell makes every walk a delightful sniff-fest.

His recall is solid within the safety of a house yard, although it can be tested by the allure of the great outdoors.

He’s a super little guard dog, but only barks if there’s something to bark at - and when he barks, it’s limited to a few woofs.

Alfie would be ideally suited to an active home where someone is around most of the time to give him the abundant love, companionship and stimulation this little chap needs. And if there's another dog in the household, especially one that loves play and adventure as much as Alfie does, all the better!

He is definitely not suited to solitary life in the backyard. But speaking of backyards, he'd enjoy a spacious one.

As always, secure fencing is essential to prevent Alfie demonstrating the escape-artist tendencies for which Jack Russells are renowned.
