Meet Daisy,
Daisy is a lovely, gentle girl with a heart as soft as her fur. She's looking for a special someone (or a family!) who understands that a little patience goes a long way. While she may be a bit shy when first meeting new people or stepping into unfamiliar places, give her just a moment — you’ll soon see her tail wagging and her bright personality shining through!
Once she feels settled, Daisy is a friendly, happy, and smart girl who LOVES to explore. Walks? She’s ready. Adventures? Count her in! She’d do wonderfully with active people who enjoy getting out and about, but she also appreciates the calm of a quiet home where she can truly relax. Daisy is curious about the world, playful in spirit, and has the sweetest way of engaging with those she trusts. She’s affectionate without being over the top and has a special way of making you feel like her favourite person.
She’d be best suited to experienced dog owners who can help her feel safe and supported as she continues to grow in confidence. If you’re the kind of person who finds magic in the little things — like tail wags, gentle nuzzles, and happy zoomies — Daisy might be the perfect fit for you.
Ideal Home: Daisy is suitable to live in a townhouse, standalone home or on a farm/acerage, with a medium to large yard and high secure fencing.
Family: Daisy is open to meet kids of any age. Children should be understanding of Daisy's needs - such as her unique and vocal way of saying hello - she barks when she sees people she doesn't know, but as soon as you say hello back she stops and is all about the cuddles and the belly rubs. She just wants you to know that she is there, she is coming and she'd like some love please and thank you.
Daisy is fine to live with people who work full-time hours as she shows no signs of separation anxiety. She is able to spend time on her own without any issues. On occasion, Daisy would love access to inside the home so that she can spend time with her new family.
Furry Friends: Daisy was initially unsure when she first saw the other dog. She vocalised but as she got closer to the other dog her vocalisation stopped and she got very excited to meet the other dog properly. Daisy was able to play with the other dog - although she plays like a puppy - she was still very responsive to her handler through out the assessment. Daisy easily integrated into a social group and catered her play style to other dogs of differing sizes - she can be a little rough when playing, though.
As we cannot test in this environment we are unsure how Daisy would go living with, or meeting, cats and pocket pets - this would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Daisy would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. Group classes may also be a good option for her so that Daisy can extend on her social skills and learning manners.
Daisy knows her name. She also knows commands such as sit and down. She is food motivated and gentle when taking treats from you. Having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Daisy has mid to high-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 20-30mins a day to keep her happy and healthy. Daisy loves to play with soft toys, go for walks, meet other dogs, meet new people and personal play with her handler.
Daisy walks well on lead, with minimal pulling - she only pulls when she sees someone she wants to meet. She is best walked on a martingale or harness.
Staff Comments: Daisy is a super affectionate girl who is also very sweet. She's a funny girl who loves to meet people. We love that she gets so excited to meet you that she barks, it's like she saying "hello, hello, hi, hello" as she's walking over to you - she can't contain her social skills! She is a smart dog who is also very trainable.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
