Meet Blaze,
Blaze is a beautiful girl with the softest eyes and the kindest spirit. She’s shy, sensitive, and just a little unsure of the big wide world - but underneath that nervousness is a friendly girl who really wants to be brave.
She’s the kind of dog who’ll tiptoe into your heart slowly, but once she does, she’ll be there forever. Blaze needs a calm, quiet home with experienced owners who understand shy dogs and know that trust takes time, patience, and kindness. Sudden noises and busy environments overwhelm her, so she’s hoping to find a peaceful space where she can feel safe and supported.
While Blaze is gentle and sweet on her own, her best and happiest self shines brightest when she’s with her sister Patch. These two are truly two peas in a pod - Patch gives Blaze the confidence she needs, and in return, Blaze gives Patch her quiet loyalty and love. They’ve spent their whole lives side by side, and we’d love nothing more than to see them stay together.
Ideal Home: Blaze is suitable to live in any property type and yard size is of no concern either. Just as long as the property fencing is high and secure.
Family: Blaze is open to meet kids of any age. But children should know that Blaze can be quite timid - so loud noises and big sudden movements may make her uncomfortable and nervous.
Blaze is fine to live with people who work full-time hours as she shows no signs of separation anxiety. She is able to spend time on her own without any issues. On occasion, Blaze would love access to inside the home so that she can spend time with her new family.
Furry Friends: Blaze is a quiet girl with a gentle presence. She’s open to meeting other dogs but feels most comfortable around those who share her calm and relaxed nature. Overly energetic or boisterous dogs can be a bit much for her, and she’s more likely to step back than join in. Blaze prefers the slow and steady kind of socialising.
One of her favourite things in the world is spending time with her sister Patch. The two are perfectly in sync, matching each other’s energy and offering comfort and confidence in every situation. They're happiest side by side, just as they’ve always been.
As we cannot test in this environment we are unsure how Patch would go living with, or meeting, cats and pocket pets - this would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Blaze would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience.
Blaze is still learning her name and she is also learning commands such as: sit. She is not very food motivated and appears to be fussy with treats too. Although, on the odd occasion that she does take a treat from you she is gentle - having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea but it may take a little while to find a treat she likes. Having said this, her fussiness may be a result of her lack of confidence.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Blaze has low-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 20-30mins every other day to keep her happy and healthy. Blaze doesn't show much interest in playing with toys. She prefers spending time with her people, going for walks or spending time with her sister Patch.
Blaze walks well on lead, with minimal pulling. A collar and lead will be fine to walk her with.
Staff Comments: Blaze is a gentle, quiet soul with a heart full of love. She’s soft-natured, sweet, and a little shy — but each day, she’s finding a bit more courage. While she absolutely adores people, she just needs a little time to feel safe and comfortable around new faces. Her sister Blaze is her biggest cheerleader and source of confidence, and together, they bring out the very best in each other.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
The adoption fee for dogs covers C5 vaccination, health check, heartworm testing, desexing, micro-chipping, and registration.
