Meet Patch,
Shy, sweet, and full of heart — Patch is a gentle soul with a soft spirit just waiting to blossom in the right home. Patch can be a little reserved at first, especially in noisy or fast-paced environments, so she’s looking for a calm and quiet home with experienced dog people who understand that love sometimes takes a little time and patience. Loud sounds can rattle her nerves, so peaceful days, soft voices, and slow introductions are her kind of vibe.
She’s incredibly sweet, smart, and tries really hard to be brave — even when her tail is tucked and her eyes are wide. With gentle encouragement, she’ll quietly inch closer, offering those shy little tail wags and heart-melting eyes that say, “I’m trying.” Patch may take her time, but when she trusts you, she’ll surprise you with her sweet nuzzles, soft eyes, and a quiet kind of love that runs deep.
Patch really shines when she’s with her sister Blaze. The two of them are like peanut butter and jam — different in some ways, but absolutely better together. Blaze gives Patch the confidence she needs to be her happiest, most affectionate self. They’ve been side by side their whole lives and we’d love nothing more than to see them stay that way.
Ideal Home: Patch is suitable to live in any property type and yard size is of no concern either. Just as long as the property fencing is high and secure.
Family: Patch is open to meet kids of any age. But children should know that Patch can be quite timid - so loud noises and big sudden movements may make her uncomfortable and nervous.
Patch is fine to live with people who work full-time hours as she shows no signs of separation anxiety. She is able to spend time on her own without any issues. On occasion, Patch would love access to inside the home so that she can spend time with her new family.
Furry Friends: Patch is a very quiet dog who is open to meet other dogs but she is best suited to other dogs that are on her level - calm, quiet and not overly playful - she tends to retreat from other dogs that are super energetic/playful - Patch prefers a more leisurely approach to being social.
In addition, Patch adores spending time with her sister Blaze. They both match each others energy and they are most happiest when they are together as she both bring out each others confidence.
As we cannot test in this environment we are unsure how Patch would go living with, or meeting, cats and pocket pets - this would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Patch would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience.
Patch is still learning her name but she knows commands such as: sit. She is food motivated and gentle when taking treats from you too but she may be a little fussy with what treats she likes - having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Patch has low-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 20-30mins every other day to keep her happy and healthy. Patch doesn't show much interest in playing with toys. She prefers spending time with her people, going for walks or spending time with her sister Blaze.
Patch walks well on lead, with minimal pulling. A collar and lead will be fine to walk her with.
Staff Comments: Patch is a very sweet, gentle, soft, quiet and shy dog - she is gaining confidence each and every day. She adores people but just needs a little bit of time to get to know them first. She gets most of her confidence from her sister Blaze. Both of them are at their best when they're together.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
