About Journey
Journey requires the following in her new home:
- Another calm desexed male dog, to help her from missing her people when they are out and to a calm influence.
- An energetic home, with daily walks, games, runs and activities.
- Continued training to remain relaxed and calm when being left or not part of an activity, advice can be given.
- Continued training to walk on a loose leash.
- A yard big enough to play and run in, with secure high fencing
Please meet our bubbly, affectionate, eager and energetic girl, Journey.
This delightful lass is perfect for an experienced and active home, where her athleticism and devotion can be shaped in wonderful ways. She shows great capacity for learning quickly when training is clearly communicated. She will need another dog in her new home who can be a calm and well-trained influencer for her. She adores heading out for walks around the neighbourhood, a game of tug ‘o war, going for walks on a long-lining at a park or on a bush track. Given time and the right training, she could make a fabulous running mate! Agility classes would likely be right up her alley too!
When her people are settled on couches, she loves to snuggle with them when. She gets overcome with an expression of pure bliss when her ears and cheeks are gently rubbed. Absolute, pure bliss!
Journey does not like being left out of any action that might be happening, nor being left alone, and has been very vocal about this in the past. With the help of her foster family, she is learning how to relax and settle, even when challenged with missing out on another dog’s or human’s adventures. With consistent, patient training in this area, she will continue to improve. She is now crate trained and will be quiet in her crate overnight and during the day when required.
Her on-leash walking has improved in a very short space of time. Initially pulling with sheer excitement and eagerness, she now requires only occasional correction to return her mentally to her human's side. Journey’s confidence with meeting new people has also improved. Initially quite unsure about new people, she is improving on this front, needing less time to gain confidence with each person. In her foster home there is a steady stream of people coming through the home each week and the visitors have readily jumped on board with Journey’s training in this area. She has responded so well to this community-effort social training.
Being as agile as she is, great fencing is an absolute must in Journey’s new home. Pocket pets such as rabbits are not advisable, nor are flighty cats. She can however already live happily with chill, relaxed cats, who are not interested in being playful.
Journey is toilet trained.
