About Cherish
Cherish is a beautiful 2 yo female dog of mixed breed, who's looking for a safe and loving home after a rough start in life.
We asked a breed identifier app to analyse her breed mix and it came up with Rhodesian Ridgeback, Vizsla and American Staffordshire Terrier.
Despite everything she’s been through, she shows absolutely no aggression. Her way of dealing with uncomfortable situations is to withdraw into herself. She will need a patient, understanding person who realizes it will take time and patience for her to come out of her shell. Once she trusts you, she becomes incredibly affectionate and loving.
She adores children, though she’d do best with older kids who understand and respect her preferences and need for quiet. Loud noises can make her shut down, so a calm, gentle environment will be ideal for her to decompress and thrive.
She can be wary of some men, but is comfortable with others. When she's feeling overwhelmed by the environment, she likes to spend time in her crate. It's definitely her safe space.
Cherish will do best in a home with another dog, as she draws comfort from having a confident canine friend, either male or female.
She is house-trained and travels well in the car. She has made great progress with walking on leash. She was frightened of the leash to begin with, but once it’s on, she’ll happily walk around the yard without any issues. She's not yet ready to venture into noisy environments and feels most comfortable in places she knows.
Inside this shy girl is a heart of gold. She will make someone a loyal and loving companion for life. She just needs patience, time and love.
