About Birdie
Do you truly want to save a life?
For the first two years of her life, Bridie knew nothing of safety, comfort, or love. She was born and raised on the streets - alone, and constantly on alert. Her world was one of survival, not softness.
Today, Bridie finds herself in a new kind of struggle. Though she's no longer on the streets, life in the shelter is overwhelming for her. The sounds, the smells, the people - it's all just too much. She hides most of the day, trying her best to disappear. But we know she doesn't want to vanish. She just doesn't know how to feel safe yet.
Bridie is a quiet graduate of our socialisation trial program - a special initiative designed to gently test whether unowned cats like her can adapt to life with humans. The results? She can. She wants to. She just needs someone patient enough to help her take the first step. As a result of her street life, Bridie is FIV positive. We recommend that any other cats in the home are also FIV positive and that Birdie is kept safe from risks by being an indoor only cat.
Cats like Bridie are not for the faint-hearted. She won't run to greet you. She might not even come out for weeks. But with time, with patience, and with love, she will begin to bloom. And when she does, it will be one of the most powerful and moving bonds you'll ever experience.
To adopt Bridie is to truly save a life. Not just by taking her home, but by showing her that the world can be kind, and that she is safe now.
Our team will be here to support you every step of the way-through the quiet days, the uncertain days, and finally, the breakthrough days.
If you have room in your heart for a cat who has never known home but deserves one more than most-please consider Bridie.
She's waiting for someone to believe in her. Could that be you?
*The Lost Dogs' Home would also be glad to have Birdie placed into a home via a recognized rescue organisation. Please contact us on adoptions@dogshome.com if your organisation has space for this beautiful soul.
