About Leyla and Bender
Are you are looking for an instant doggy family.
Leyla and Benders new home requires the following
- Not to be separated, they are a bonded pair.
- Continued training with manners and loose leash walking.
- No other animals in the home.
- High secure fencing with no gaps and room to run and play.
- Not suited to dog parks or being off leash in public, with the exception of using long lines or retractable leads.
- To have the option of being inside when their people are home and to sleep of the night.
- No young children living in the home.
- Supervision while the are feed or to feed separately.
Leyla and Bender both are smart and are learning manners quickly and will need consistency and further training so they become happy polite members of the family. They need firm boundaries, but are simply beautiful affectionate dogs. They will need secure fencing with no gaps.
Leyla enjoys chewing a soft toy teddy and a rope monkey and also enjoys a game of tug of war.
Bender loves doing a romp around the lounge room chasing balls but not yet understanding fetch. He loves running around the back yard and playing with Leyla.
Leyla believes that every human’s knee is for her to sit on and will insist on jumping up to sit with her people and any visitors that come through the home. Her main aim in life is to get tummy rubs and she will wriggle like a little worm while she receives them. Bender has more patience waiting to be told its ok to jump up for cuddles.
Leyla and Bender have shown they are happy and affectionate with kids over 12. Leyla just needs reminders not be over excited. Bender is gentle and patient.
They both travel well in the car and are happy for car trips with their people. They also love going for walks and following their nose. Leyla pulls on lead but is responding to the training her carers are doing, and Bender is happy trotting alongside you, but will pull for a good smell, and to try and say hi to everyone and their dogs that he sees.
Leyla and Bender need to be feed separate or with supervision, as they try and scoff their own meal to then eat the others food, they need encouragement to slow down or use slow feeders and to eat their own food. They are not suited to being off lead in public spaces, their recall is a work in progress and they will chase down any small or large critter, a long line or retractable lead will be useful to allow them to run and investigate the smells but also still have control of them for their safety. Their carer is also working on the following commands, Away – waving hand back to let them know it’s not time for cuddles, Bedtime - time to settle in bed, Down – to hope off from furniture or from knees. Both Leyla and Bender are toilet trained and will use the doggy door to go outside.
During the day they will nap on the couch and they also love a cosy dog bed. At night they are currently sleeping in a crate with the door open and in the laundry, as without supervision they like to chew their cosy beds.
Leyla and Bender prefer to be the only pets in the home.
