About Winston
Hi there, I'm Winston — but you can call me Winno, Whinny the Pooh Bear, or anything you like.
I respond best when food, cuddles, or a soft spot on the couch is involved. I'm a 4-year-old Shar Pei cross with a striking brindle coat, soulful eyes, and a big heart. At 29kg, I'm the perfect medium-to-large doggo — sturdy enough for outdoor adventures, gentle enough to melt into your side for a nap.
I've known love before. I was adopted in 2021 and spent a few wonderful years with a family who adored me. Sadly, life threw them a curveball, and they made the tough decision to return me to care. It's been emotional for all of us, but I'm still the same sweet, steady boy, full of love and ready for my next chapter. I know my people are out there.
I'm a goofy, affectionate kind of guy who thinks every human is a potential best friend.
Honestly, I want to be close to you. If you're moving from room to room, I'll be right behind. Shadow mode: activated. The reason? I simply gets people! I strive to be a calm and easygoing presence that brings comfort and warmth to those around me.
I love hanging out with my foster sister (she's a Bully X), and I'm always polite to the Jack Russell next door. I'm not the pushy sort — I like to be part of the pack. I don't bark much, but I will happily chat with you when I'm excited or playing.
I'm toilet-trained, love being indoors, and am fantastic at the dog wash. Baths? Not a problem. I stand there like a champ. I've also been told I don't shed much at all, which is a big deal (go me)!
Walks are one of my favourite things, especially if there's structure. My foster mum walks me on a short lead, keeps me on the left, and rewards me when I stay calm around other dogs. Sometimes I get a little reactive when I see new pups, but I'm not aggressive — I get excited and forget my manners. I'm working on it, and I'm proud of the progress I've made so far.
Oh, and did I mention I'm super food motivated? Training with me is a breeze, I'll do just about anything for a tasty treat.
I love routine, I love being part of a family, and I love cuddles: big ones, little ones, surprise ones. I'll take them all.
I do have a bit of history with skin and ear allergies, but they're well managed with meds and check-ups. I am currently having monthly Cytopoint injections to help keep on top of my skin allergies, along with steroids when required. It doesn't get me down, and I'm great at the vet—just another chance to be a good boy.
Right now, I'm looking for a forever home. Somewhere calm and kind. Someone who will let me curl up beside them, who understands that I'm just a dog looking for a place to belong again. If you've been dreaming of a loyal, goofy, gentle best friend, we might be perfect for each other.
Love,
Winston 🐾
